Re: Remove the drone like you did with the shield

@GosBiker I don't agree. Its a valid and plausible attack vector. And the drone flight radius is limited. The operator cannot be that far from it, so if you see one in the air, it means the operator is blind and lying in prone waiting for you to get his dogtags.

    You're right.

I won't launch into my whole speech about player expression because I've already done it to death, but you're right. This can be countered, it just requires other players to think outside of the box as well.

@Trokey66 put it best earlier in the thread, players seem loath to actually switch up their playstyle to accommodate another potential danger.

@WrongJeremyThis is an age old problem in BF games.

Medic getting killed by tanks: "Nooooo tank too OP, but I want to stay medic so I will just curse the tank on chat and call for nerfs

Ground soldier getting peppered by aircraft: "Noooo flying thing too OP, But I will not use stingers, AA tanks or aircraft cause I want to keep my kit and call for nerfs."

Aircraft user who annoyed the team bellow enough to get locked on all the time: "Noooooo AA too OP, I will not adapt and maybe go down and use a tank or a soldier cause I am a full time pilot so the AA needs a nerf"*

Sorry if these sounded too strawman-y but I wanted to make them funny

    * Note: the AA does have an very real issue with the countermeasures right now but it will be fixed Soon (TM)

Oh I know mate, I've grown up with the franchise. I suppose to a point I should recognise that trying to argue for the sandbox isn't going to get me anywhere, but I still want to fight for it all the same.

Also yes, AA is currently having a bad time, arguably a much more important issue than this, actually.

  • Yes, the drones have been used beyond its intended function which is to spot enemies and fire EMP at vehicles. Definitely needs to be removed.

@xx-VoodooKing-xx considering that some of the real life drone panic was about the fear of people using drones exactly for that , I wonder how surely one can decide what the intended role of a drone is. They are versatile tools.
  • @Ahhnuld

In Conquest, yes the flight distance is limited.

But not in Breakthrough, the objectives and the attacker's spawn is really close and the drone can go deep into spawn. There is where people use the 'Out of combat area' exploit.

The EA admin made 100% effort to remove the post without notifying if any action or point has been noted. Not something surprising..

Its also an old age problem when casuals feel sad that their fav exploits get called out cause they can't get easy XP anymore.

Can totally understand why you are feeling so defensive about removing this C5 + Drone in the game 🙂

  • @GosBiker Who you calling "Casuals"? I mean..waa? brah?

Its not that easy to C5 drone a tank. You can get killed, the drone moves slow, they can shoot the drone down. Its for certain that its not an exploit. I would not believe that Dice after 3 years would not know a)its possible and b) not removing it for a reason. Ive exited my tank a few times and shot them down. They also have a c5 icon on them. Sounds more like someone else is butthurt.
  • @Buzzfunk

Its super easy to tank kill with Drone + C5.

You don't even need to trigger the C5,  a tank is slow and especially in a game mode like Breakthrough (it DOES NOT have enough playable area like Conquest) , there is only a certain distance your tank can safely play the objective.

All you need to do is hover your drone above a tank, as he is taking out other tanks, crash on to him and the c5 will auto explode.

Hover your drone out of map , reset the timer (exploit that I have been talking about all these while and asking for a fix) , come back in from behind the tank, and just crash land it.

Missed your shot? No problem, cause all you need to do is re-supply and do it again. Hit now? Great, get  rewarded with  XP, multi-kills and vehicle destroyed stats. Its totally risk-free.

Even a level 1 player would be able to do that.

And who am I calling a casual? Players that enjoy getting these type of cheap kills and the ones defending it to stay... like you. A typical basic level casual.

I am defending fun and creativity.
If it is about XP gain, the Balls are a lot more efficient and easy.
If people want enemies with only one track of mind, they can go kill bots instead of players.

Your attempt to throw in an ad hominem was also noted

Yes, you better believe that they can be fun

I draw the line based on if the scale of such a practice is big enough to really become a dominant way of playing. So far DICE had not even found it statistically significant enough to make a comment about it, unlike the SOFLAM M5 ignoring the flares issue.

I am optimistic that the next patch will make it a lot harder for anyone to c5 a tank with a drone.

If not, it will get the BF3 MAV treatment.

I hope that it will happen - that the next patch will not allow this C5 + drone , or at least as most people have suggested, allow just 1 C5 on it. Though I still feel its not fair, but knowing that the tanks won't die, you'll have lesser people doing this ..

And finally people will do what it takes to get rid of a tank that is causing massive damage, properly.

I play both vehicles and infantry and I would love a fair balance between both.

@GosBikerthen you should be more concerned about how the turret turn speed and low angles are really disadvantageous for the tanks.

As a tanker, the ease of the M5 launcher has frustrated me a lot more than other sources of tank death.

There was that one time there the defending side in BR Manifest had a squad that was more organized that usual and was firing M5s at every tank of the attacking team and a really disturbing frequency. The attackers were constantly with destroyed or hiding tanks.

I find that the ratio of vehicles and infantry is really biased in favor of the infantry.

The drones with the C5s are merely a trifle compared to the more accessible slaughter with the M5s

@UP_Hawxxeye Honestly some of the funnest times I had on BF3 was nudging snipers camping on the tops of buildings off after destroying their spawn beacon, and when they didn't realize that they were falling and gave themselves a suicide was damn hilarious along with roadkilling them.

Or in BF4 blowing up tanks with their own teams mines, or blowing up a guy throwing out his own mines or C4.
