Re: Was the Kaleidoscope rework worth it?

No.  It was not.  As I stated when these reworked maps were first announced.  This time spent revising old maps could have been used to add new ones more frequently to the game.  Map variety is what is lacking in BF2042.

This is exactly why the last sector in the original Kaleidoscope Breakthough map on top of the buildings should have never been changed.  

It was the final sector of the map that was rightfully a difficulttask for attackers,  and how was it wrong to have a sector that challenged pilots to do more than simply farm infantry?  Where they had to coordinate with their attacking team to overcome a challenging sector.  This series screams "teamwork" but never challenges its players to do it.  

Instead the developes folded to the pressure and changed the map when the best design was already playable. 

Maybe restricting land vehicles from dropping on rooftops would have help things, but that was the only change necessary.

    I could almost agree with this if it wasn't possible to drop vehicles on top of buildings. Having defenders just put a tank/wildcat/bolt up ontop and target all of the elevator doors made it basically impossible to attack.

    @Skill4Reel roof top objectives are objectively a terrible idea....
    the defenders are packed on two small rooftops calling in 1-2 Wildcats and absolutely rofflestom any attempt to take the roof...
    chockepoint objectives only work if oyu give the attackers either more firepower i.E tanks and heavy assault vehicles , or give them sufficent cover to advance close enough to push them out.
    neither are present on any rooftop objective in 2042, meaning the only way for defenders to loose the objective is to collectively have a stroke and not play for 5 minutes

    I don’t know about breakthrough because i only play conquest on PS4. The map got a little better because all the scattered cover and terrain change but also got worse because the rooftop flag was the highlight of that map for me it gave variety to the map. Now it feels like we only have 3 flags instead of 4.  When they put flags close to each other (like A1 and A2) that counts as 1 capture area for me. They should have 5 capture areas on Kaleidoscope on PS4 equal distance from each other. So if each capture area has double flags, we should  see 10 flags all together to make it interesting. Usually people never go to a lonely flag far away because the time you get there it is captured. In my opinion the best map in this game is RENEWAL. They said they will ‘improve’ that map as well in the future. I hope they don’t change the 64 player version because it is PERFECT as it is now. They can only make it worse (for conquest). (5 capture zones at equal distance , 7 flags together as of now)
