Re: Welp, it's officially confirmed only TWO more new maps.

What if they bring out premium content DLC next year for the game?  Would you still buy it?

nope. Done with this BF. Nothing but trouble since launch and and minimum effort to fix from EA/DICE who pretty much gave up on it from the beginning.

This whole game has been 1 big beta for their next title, and i helped pay for it like a sucker.

To tell the truth, I believed until the end that Dice would positively surprise me with some news about plans to add new maps to the portal, which they had hoped for from the beginning (rightly so, it is a great idea, only very badly managed / even abandoned) and I did not want to believe, that we will only get a minimum of one map per season in a game that does not even have a single player for full price. In fact, if that turns out to be true (that they will only add two maps to the game) then it really is a blow to the face for the community, he was just taking respect from us and our money. I understand that a lot of people want bf2042 to be dumped and a new game released as soon as possible, but how can you be sure that if they got away with this scam this time around, the situation won't happen again? DICE / EA is doing everything to destroy the Battlefield as they all love, because apparently analysts decided that it is better to spend the crap more often but for more money, because people will buy it anyway ... Sad

@andzian1920I was under the impression also that new maps would come to portal each season but boy was I let down. Portal could have been so much better but they screwed it from the get-go by limiting the XP. It probably would have retained more players too if they hadn't. I guess maybe DICE didn't want portal to upstage AOW.

Yeah me too, I believed that Portal would be the saving grace for BF2042, sadly not. ☹️

@RayD_O1At this point open Portal solo/co-op to full progression and open it all up. They just said two more seasons and it’s over pretty much. What do they have to lose at this point.

one other thing let players who did not get season one unlocks have the chance to get it. Atleast it be something to players to do.

  • Tough messaging from you @246stNSW ,

But unfortunately very true.  The terribly pre-mature launch made it an impossible uphill battle for the dev team to try and turn this lost supertanker around.  Many of the absolute core software design architectures made it too much to fix even before Xmas/NewYear, which was supposed to be the epic summit for this game.  So the opportunity to win back some of the much lost FPS game marketshare was lost.  Looking back in the mirror (always easier) then it appears this was also the conclusion the upper echelons came to at EA/DICE and all taps were closed off back in Jan/Feb timeframe.  The terminal sick patient was put on bare minimum life support, keeping the game just at vegetative state until at least the 4 seasons have been pushed out.

Not even sure anybody would want BF2042 to become an organ donor.

Up to me, I think cremation would be best.

And the worst part about that is that they had a prime opportunity. CoD was a down year, Halo Infinite was a mess at launch with very very little content. Had BF soared during that time it would be a massively different situation than what we have right now. But here we are with the dregs of a would-be Battle Royale with a mode that was DoA at launch, and Portal which hasn't had significant content in a year [minus a few guns] and still has one of the worst interfaces I've seen on a PC ever.

So I suppose that the changing of how their text reads to only "a map" means officially that Portal can now be considered dead? Oh well, long live the king.

Nothing left to be said about this developer and their character. I'm out.

...and a merry xmas to you too, Dice.

Thanks for sharing bud,, confirms what we all suspected but sadly not what we wanted to hear as BF fans.

@RayD_O1Honestly though "ambitious plans" was not necessarily anything good.
Specialists and Hazard zone were part of the "ambitious" of the launch.

For me, buzzwords like "ambitious" mean "taking the game to a new direction based on fads and making something that is less recognizable by the original customers"

I miss premium map packs that motivated the creation of more maps instead of overpriced cosmetics. the pre-BFV games were better for it.

@RayD_O1 If I had read what he was saying correctly. Dice was going to release multiple maps per month but they scratched the idea because of the terrible launch. When was the point at which they said we are done? Seems to me they gave up after the first month. Imagine if this is true we have gotten two maps per month and how amazing the game would be.

@Sc0tch_Whiskey I feel the decision to cut back support was made shortly after DICE came back from Christmas and New Year holiday break. That's when everyone at DICE started going radio silent and the new leadship began taking control at the studio.

I'm sure the Execs at EA took a look at how quickly the game was bleeding players and instructed DICE to cut back support.

@OskooI_007 Yea I’m pretty sure that is correct. But how sad they gave up just into a few months. What guarantee do I have it won’t happen with the next game. This is why no one ever should pre-order or buy a game when first released. These companies do not care anymore.

It is BFV all over again.

I think it is about time they eat crow and stop trying to market Battlefield as live service game with a consmetics-based business model.

Paid cosmetics are nearly worthless in a game with an uncertain future.

Map packs on the other hand...

100% could not have said it better, let's hope they change direction in the future.

    "We're all in on BF2042"...LOL

pfffft, that was a short laugh ay? "in" what? incompetent, incomprehensible, incomplete??

I can't understand what's happened to workers in this country where nobody seems to be doing their job or caring about it. It's just all about the cash and getting away with whatever you can.

What ever happened to american pride in your work, being hungry to make something great that everyone will want?

Why walk away from all the hard work now? Because you didn't make a billion on it in 3 days? Because most players left due to you not listening, not doing enough, and not properly communicating, Seriously?

Man-up for heaven's sake and make this game the best damn BF that the world has ever seen...so lose another $100m on it...you're still profiting, and in another year you'll make so much more if you keep it going in the correct direction it needs.

But no, there's no pride, there's no hunger, there's no wanting to build something great any longer...there's only the road with least resistance to profits. Disgusting already, shameful.

Just STOP it, wtfu and get back to work already...do the right thing for everyone, do the right thing for yourselves, your families and this country.

I think they stated even before launch (or maybe right after), that we were gonna get 1 map and specialist per season, with "vault" weapons sprinkled inbetween; it's cool to see they started pre-production on year 2 content though so there is still hope for something else great

  • Even post launch of BF2042 there were still no clarity from EA/DICE on what really would be placed into the Season packages.  Likewise what was the real difference (included/excluded) in the various license versions (Ultimate, Gold, Standard...).  And it wasnt because we never asked them.  We did.  And repeatedly doing so.  But yes, we were in good faith and we still went ahead with the purchase.  So in that sense, EA/DICE and especially their Marketing department made an outstanding commercial job (if caring only to make a one hit scam and then run away with the money), as we were literally hundreds of thousands of customers paying up front despite no clear description of the product we actually just had paid for.

Though the EA/DICE disclaimer and liability limitations as described in the license conditions took up an alarming large portion of the entire description, which is also classic red flag and should make the alarm bells go off.  Hence, we can maybe just blame ourselves for being so naïve and stupid.  Commercially, its however not a viable pathway for EA to the riches, so this will obviously bite them back.

So what is their commitment longer term to the BF2042 game?

Based on all (the actually very bare little) we see, then its already clear the shop is closed down already and the larger team moved on long ago.

And you can instead all cheer for the amazing Battlefield game just being launched for mobile devices!

So lets just forget all your hopefuls that just pimped up your PC for some BF2042 gaming and spent all your money on that.  Because EA moved on long ago and instead wants you to play their BF game on your Android phone.

Is it a BF2042 game for mobiles?

No.  For some reason????  Hahahaha.  EA/DICE appear now to embrace the legacy features of what makes a real Battlefield game a battlefield, so you have game modes at launch like:

Conquest, warpath, rush and team death match.

And for the silly BF2042 Specialist?

No.  For some reason????  Hahaha.  EA/DICE appear now to embrace the legacy features of what makes a real Battlefield game a battlefield game, so you have soldier classes at launch like:

    Assault, engineer, support and recon.

And as you rank up, you will unlock weapons, gadgets and specializations that will further focus on those classes.

I wonder where all those amazing concepts suddenly are coming from?

It reminds me somehow of a great game we used to play some versions ago...

And yes, can we please have the same kind of game for all classic platforms like PlayStation, Xbox and PC?

Happy to forget about the terrible disaster named BF2042 and move on!
