Re: Whats your thoughts on the new map Stranded

Here's my first impression on the map after a quick test play.

Visually i dislike the containers being off-centered or in random position to have a gap through them, in my opinion this map feel more like an "arcade version" of what the map could look like but mostly because of the bright red color everywhere and the random placement of containers and containers only.

I didn't play enough to talk about the gameplay but the other maps feel more realistic in a certain way.

  • It feels like a worse version of Discarded. It’s very annoying dealing with Crawford’s minigun inside the ship and especially in the hallways on each side of the ship. The only maps that are worse than it imo are Hourglass and Kaleidoscope.

    Love the map on PS4 (conquest). This map has everything. No running simulator from spawn point to first flag. The map is big but quick and easy to get around to any flag.. Use vehicles outside of the ship, or ziplines. Flag areas are well designed and equal distance from each other.There is always a flag nearby. Lots of cover and they are not the same. Want more grinding? Get in the ship. Want to go to the other side of it? Many ways, under it, over it zip lines etc. Frankly if you don't like this map, i don't know what you like. I just tried breakthrough but it was mindless shooting. No fun for me. Let's be honest. I for example loved BF3 but playing Caspian Border on portal made me realize the new maps are as good or even better than the old loved ones. I say Stranded is better than all of the maps in Portal. This new map is super fun and exciting. Thank you. 

  • I have played this map a good 12 times now mu thoughts:.

    - The sectors make the boat pointless just like discarded but worse because if you loose the outside then your never getting on that ship with all the camping. Why not make 2 sectors outside split part one/part 2?

    -  Camping its everywhere yeah its hard to fix this but wow alot of my games there were users that stayed in spot for the whole 22mins mostly because of the major issue.

    - The spawn points my main issue with the map very frustrated its worse than exposure i spawn in 150m away and boom timmy in that bush got you ok spawn in boom oh george got you behind that storage container. Fine spawn on ship objective then crunch oh ran over because you spawn on the road.

    I go to spawn at the radio tower area oh we spawned you 200m away oh chopper got you try again.

    - The ziplines need to go why can we not have stairs or back access spots like the one section? so many times i get taken out during my 3min zipline ride to the top of the ship and i am doing this because i spawned outside 150m away.

    Played it now a bunch of times yesterday. It's 7/10. Its pretty fun but the netcode at times make's it hard to hit someone 

  • Tried it a few games its meh, really didnt want to see another ship in a map. Also in a couple matches of BT I think it was, I joined and the enemy was already set up and literally raining down all sorts of firepower hell at the spawn point. You literally spawn dead spawn dead spawn dead, no way to get out of it so left. They need more cover on the first spawn point of BT, if the enemy get a foothold on the spawn killing its game over in minutes and may as well quit

    I experienced a lot of terrible spawns yesterday playing Stranded on Conquest especially on the outside areas.

    I think it's something they need to look at.

    @Straatford87 I like it, its awesome! I can tell they put a lot of time on it. Lots going on outside the boat as well! 

    The Tornadoes are awesome on this map! They do affect capturing objectives on this map. Can we get multiple tornadoes on the other maps as well?

    I'm a big mixed bag on this map. I think it's better than all launch maps, but not on the same level as Exposure. It's rather fun, chaotic, has plenty of cover, but the map in general feels so uninspired and rather stale.

    I played Exposure for 80% of my time in 2042 since it released, I don't think I could spend that same amount of time on Stranded. I just can't unsee Discarded 2.0 and the loads of reused assets just thrown all over the place.

    Feels like a map that was made using a Battlefield Forge Mode (like Halo) rather than an official Dice made map.

    @tom_looken Yeah everytime i try to use the ziplines I get smoked lol. I like that its an easy way to get to and from the ship though. We need some big * trees or something for cover.

    That B1 sector you can't really hide at especially with aircraft coming at you. You get shot at from every angle at that one.

    Yeah I feel the same. it's not really a stand out map and not a patch on Exposure in terms of playability / longevity..

    Like you I feel it has too many similarities to Discarded / Manifest, overall maybe a score of 6.5 / 10 

  • Its OKAY. The performance is better as it's smaller. The flow is better than other maps. But the fighting areas are bland and boring....You can't just copy paste your containers and mix them up and call it fun. Nothing feels original amongst these maps. Sure maps of BF3/BF4 reused assets, but their placements and the areas you fought around all felt unique. The most unique parts to me is the inside of the ship but even that is just OK.

    For me Stranded can be a good map that give me the Metro/Locker vibe. I like the intens battle inside the ship, the containers give you good cover and make it better to sneak up behind the enemy. flags inside the ship are captured and recaptured on a fast pace which provide a good old rampage. But!...and here it comes....for goodness sake!...fix the performance PLEASE!!!. Most of the time i was shooting gummybears. Push my M5 recoilless trigger, and again wasn't alowd too shoot because 1 second later i was getting shot. Too much BS again...geuss what....voodoo time!
