idk where you get this idea that battlefield players EVER worked together if they weren't in a clan.  public servers have always been ful of people who do what they want and i remember these same arguments back on BC2 forums (idk what happened before that because even though i was playing bf i didn't visit forums for the games)

Classes isn't what separates BF from other shooters. It's the large scale combined arms gameplay that makes battlefield battlefield.

Having restrictive classes does nothing for group play. It gives the illusion of group play to brain dead randoms that probably aren't very good let alone decent at the game in the first place. Social features and expanded group play is how you achieve coordination and team play in battlefield. Battlefield is only ever at its best when its an organized group vs organized group. BF2042 doesn't cater to large scale group play. There's only so much a squad of 4 can do in a match. There's no point in going out of your way to play like a "casual sweat lord" when chances are you'll never play the same players again with the way match making works in AoW.

There is more incentive and focus put on leveling up and earning badges than winning so naturally players will gravitate towards that. I'm super competitive/sweaty so it really hurts my soul to see players almost intentionally throwing games and not doing things "properly" but at the end of the day, it's just a game,and I guess I shouldn't be getting so worked up.
