I admit that the central area (B flag in conquest) has some issues. But all other areas were super fine. Rush on Metro with lower player numbers was super fun.
The map was just not made for 64 players playing conquest.
But that is sadly all for what the map is known for in the end because people used it to grind their stuff. It can be an awesome Map with the right game mode and settings.
Edit: yes it's very possible to compare metro with bc2 maps.
BC2 had awesome maps made for rush. The best Rush maps in the franchise. But you can't have everything. Most of them suck in conquest.
In BF3 they made every map for everything and that just didn't work very well. So some maps were just good in Rush (Metro, Damavand peak) and others only in conquest (Caspian border is my fav map but it was sooooo bad in rush...)
THAT is actually a very interesting subject and angle you bring in there @NiCeDiCe90 to this discussion!
So what map(s) do the players find to be the absolute best and most versatile map? Aka working best also across multiple game modes.
I recall classic maps like Zavod 311, Rogue Transmission and Dawnbreaker all were quite fun in large conquest, but also very different but still great in game modes like Obliteration and Rush. Even small conquest or team deathmatch. Thinking about it, lets throw in also maps like Golmud, Paracel Storm and Hainan Resort, who all also worked great in tight gaming on their smaller map versions .
Depending on the game mode, then the whole game, the frontier flow, strategic stronghold locations and moves suddenly changed dramatic. But all these maps were still brilliant and endless fun to be had on them no matter!
So what is it that made some maps universally relevant and all time greats?
The BF2042 maps definitely comes out short on most deliverables and its obvious not much time or thought was spent on them.
