@ABC-Warrior-real wrote:The introduction of AI soldiers into 2042 was one of the best things DICE did. It makes TOTAL sense, now support is ending, to open up all game modes so they can start with one real player. Once a game is up and running, others real players are bound to end up joining to fill the game out.
Honestly, at this point, over 3 years from launch, does it really matter how anyone progresses their specialists, weapons, gadgets or vehicles? Just open the game up and let us play any mode at any time. This would be the best farewell gift DICE could give (other than allow full XP and progression in Portal - then we'd see that mode being used!!)
100% this, and the sooner the better to help prevent an even further decline in player numbers.
I hardly go multiplayer now because of this very reason.
As I have said before, Open The Game Up now COMPLETELY and get rid of the stupid XP restrictions now too, it's completely irrelevant now.
I know of no other organisation that actively destroys it's own game and player base like these people are doing.

I don't really see a reason to forbid players to play the modes they want to because of too few players.
A one player start seems totally reasonable. Maybe they could also combine this with a server browser.

After this season ends and there will be no more weekly missions even the last possible arguments against opening up the game disappears.
EA DICE make it happen!

100% this, 👍
Being able to get into matches instantly instead of endlessly queueing in lobbies would vastly improve the whole player gaming experience.
DICE please help us get the best out of BF2042 by enabling one player starts, it used to work seamlessly in the Weekly Portal Experiences like World Tour etc and it would work well in AOW.
- sk1lld8 months agoLegend
Geeze, anything to get the matches to start quicker.
- RayD_O18 months agoHero
It would also be a big help to players in regions with low player counts who struggle to ever get in to matches.
Imho with the ever decreasing player numbers one player starts will become an essential feature.

I do fear there could be a major negative impact on player numbers when the Season draws to a close.
I strongly believe that one player starts will become essential to allow players quick access rather than leaving almost empty lobbies in frustration.

Yesterday we were 13 people online on a server - 13 people waiting, while staring at the screen:
13/16 players necessary to start the round
(or whatever the text on the screen says)
Is it completely impossible to get through to EA/DICE about having this changed, if nothing else to 8 players necessary to start a round?
- 7 months ago@VOLBANKER_PC I had a chuckle to myself reading this.
I only play 128 conquest and it’s terrible you get to 28/29 players then can drop down to 10 again 😂 or gets to 31/32 then they drop out.
I think there is a deeper issue of half filled games might only be a 128 issue but it wouldn’t surprise me if it exists with 64 as well. - 7 months ago
I wonder if it’s because the matchmaking algorithm needs a certain amount of players to give a - in EA/DICE’s eyes - satisfactory result.
It’s pure speculation of course.
But that could explain why they appear to stubbornly refuse to lower the required no. of players to start a round.

Sadly this scenario is becoming increasingly common and can only get worse once the Season 7 ends.
As I have said previously one player starts worked perfectly for the Official Portal Weekly Experiences such as World Tour etc and imho should be introduced for all AOW / Official Portal modes asap. (I notice they have recently increased the Portal Experiences to 4 players needed to start which was a backward step)
With a dwindling player base anything that can be done to allow faster access for players should be a priority, we spend way to much time waiting to play rather than actually playing which is an unnecessary frustration which could be easily resolved.

There is an easy way to play with less number of needed players: Portal.
You can create your own server with your own rules. You can disable the operation system, you can have team skins (eg male vs female), you have a server browser, you can have a good map rotation, you can kick/bann players when they are cheating, you can adjust the damage between weapons vehicles and aircraft, you can remove the minimap and spotting system to improve the squadplay.
But the problem is: When you add Ai for not to have a empty server, than you get only restricted XP, no masteries and you cant earn the tier 1 skins.
Please EA/DICE remove the xp restriction from ai filled portal games and let us play the better Battlefield 2042. We realy want to play your game and spend money, but only for changed game rules!

Imho one player starts are needed in all modes, both in AOW and Portal so all players are catered for.
They used to operate one player starts for the Official Weekly Portal Modes and it worked well, I believe it would work equally well in AOW. - 7 months ago
I understand the sentiment, but when you can gain full experience and T1 skins in a setting where you can add AI at will, it becomes easier to gain T1 skins, and their relative rarity drops. With that in mind, you can't change it easily.

Agreed and the sooner the better if we want to retain players, so many will leave the game in frustration at having to queue endlessly in lobbies.
DICE please make it happen.

Not sure whether its an MM issue or not but I am fairly sure that if we don't get one player starts in all AOW / Portal modes the player base will continue to shrink rapidly.
We all want to spend our time playing the game not endlessly queueing in lobbies waiting to play.
Dice please make it happen so we can all get the best out of BF2042.

I'd rather play than wait.
The calculation is very easy:
With the xp restriction in ai filled portal games, EA/Dice dont want, that the players play Portal.
+
In AoW with the rule: "number of needed player for matchstart", EA/Dice dont want, that the players play AoW.
=
EA/Dice dont want, that the players play Battlefield 2042. - RayD_O17 months agoHero

Getting stuck in lobbies with only 6 players then 5 players endlessly etc. They need to do something, or this game is dead.Exactly, and the sooner the better.
Otherwise it will become a ghost town due to more and more players quitting out of pure frustration 😕.

The AI is good enough to fill!
I can't play World Tour anymore because my region exclusively plays on a single Portal server.
There's now no way for me to enjoy other factions without sacrificing my own "concept" of progress in 2042 since playing with other factions in Portal and enabling AI results in restricted XP.
World Tour was the only way I could play other factions without feeling like I was cutoff at the knees.

I fully understand your frustration.
As I have said many times, I firmly believe that we need to have single player starts in all game modes in both AOW and Official Portal Experiences.
Imho all players in all regions should have access and not be locked out of the game.
In my own experience, I enjoyed playing World Tour on many occasions when it was single player starts, and the servers actually filled up fairly quickly until the AI were all replaced.
Get the servers started and get people playing I say.

No they will not do anything, I’m sure they are hoping to regain the server space before the Christmas season games are released. They even admit the game is bad but somehow skirt around legally being responsible enough to give everyone refunds for this scam of a game. Matchmaking is so broken and they already ran off with our money leaving no one that’s actually gonna do whatever it takes to implement this change. It will be hard to scale xp and damage and all sorts of other coding other then just flip a switch to make it work. Personally I don’t like pvp ai games because the ai is sandbagging whether to compensate for the mass amounts of terrible players or decent players and then I don’t want newbie from game pass getting boosted xp there’s already so many reasons more I can point out why not refutable contradictions regardless if opening the game up is a good thing. New Gen games sell you games they don’t guarantee will work or function at all today. Completely irrelevant what we think, we are just the cash cows. Policies can’t keep up or the players have their heads in the sand in the current market. Hope you find they post about any updates as updates are supposedly over for 2042 realistically one more would be to ensure the server space is reduced or a fancy publication stating optimization.
