Portal seems like a game changer to me and probably the best idea Dice has had in a long time. guess we'll see.
Wallhack should be removed. Change it to minimap spotting only like a personal uav but also relay that information to the squad like how NetBat worked in 2142.
Riot Shield shouldn't reflect bullets. Explosion and bullet resistance is already pretty powerful.

The big problem will be balancing specialists.
Apex legends is one long journey of balancing/adjusting skills of the legends and this could easily be the same for BF
We know that Dice has this one-size-fits-all approach and things that work in HZ will perhaps be very problematic in conquest.
This can also mean that the game is 'half-broken' a lot of the time, because some specialists will be OP, until their skills are adjusted. This will be an ongoing issue especially when Dice introduces more new specialists over time.
From history we know that Dice often are very slow to make adjustments to the game and this could end up be very annoying in BF2042. Now they not only has to balance weapons/vehicles but specialists also.

@cso7777 I just don't see DICE being able to balance every permutation of Specialist and gadget combination that the community can come up with when traditionally DICE couldn't balance individual weapons and vehicles in a vacuum reliably. Let us also not forget DICE's propensity to over-nerf when they do balance things.

Welp that just saved me 60 bucks.
Lets hope the next one they go back to actual battlefield.

Not to mention they have a propensity for over reacting to balance issues that often ends up with them spending several months of work and patches on a single issue.
- 4 years ago@Noodlesocks like the Type 2A?

@ragnarok013That about sums it up.
Not to mention the "new" specialists we'll get, going by what's been shown so far, will probably fall into the "counter the other guy" category.
If not they'll have to come up with some "revolutionary" gadget each time they want a new skin bumper, and i don't see that happening.
My first nerf money now goes on the wallhack specialist, closely followed by whoever can blank out their map/spot ping (maybe reverse order) - SirBobdk4 years agoSeasoned Ace
It's ok to try something new, like 4-6 specialists instead of classes with access to all weapons and gadgets.
I would have been ok with that. But 20+ specialists with more or less weird specialties is just ridiculous and can prove impossible to balance.
Again we get a system for the sake of the system and not for the gameplay.
- 4 years ago@Noodlesocks How is this a "wallhack"?

- 4 years ago@ragnarok013 Im pretty sure it comes with either a downside or is very limited. I cant imagine Dice putting in a "wallhack" just like the real hacks. I mean use your head.

I mean use your head.@Buzzfunk I am using my head - even with a cool down it's OP when we already have sensor balls in the game. Even TUGS didn't literally show you the person through the wall, you had to guess based on a dot on a minimap and a beep.
- 4 years ago@ragnarok013 I hear ya. Well, time will tell if its a game stopper. Im sure they wont stop tweaking the game once its out so we'll see.
- 4 years ago@Noodlesocks Wonder how that riot shield will hold up against a tank or rpg.
- 4 years ago@ragnarok013 Yep on the obvious ones, thought the same.
I'm still out on the potential shield wall, i noticed one of them seemed to move at normal sprint with the shield out when flanking, that might be pretty OP too unless we just saw the reason for AP ammo.
If that punches clean through then no problem i guess.
I still worry that the specialists "gadgets" shown today will end up a play/counterplay mechanic like it tends to in hero shooters, where picks are based on nullifying other abilities rather than adding to the combat.
And anyone who's played Destiny can probably attest to what weapons/gear/abilities that grant wallhacks tend to do.
Just a bad idea in general imo, if it was a sensor ping with a wide reach or showed a flicker say where someone was 5 seconds earlier then it would be a little less jarring.
Anti-camping i have no issue with, but just straight up walls is probably going to make that an automatic solo pick unless the cooldown is *very* long. - VOLBANKER_PC4 years agoSeasoned Ace
Just watched 2/3 of the new Specialists reveal video, then I had seen enough.
I can't see myself buying this game.
What on Earth have they done to the Battlefield series I used to love??
- 4 years ago@VOLBANKER_PC "Where muh Battlefield done went and gone" is what I've been thinking as I've been out here on the land cutting down trees. It's like that took Battlefield out back and euthanized it because it was a prize winning bull enough to them anymore.
