Honest question, in what way has this strategy changed from the classic modern combat battlefield titles? In my view this is how it has always been done. Go into the fight retreat and repair when it gets heavy and then return to the fight. The only difference is you used to be able to have 2 repair guys in the back of the little bird and you were nearly invincible if you had 2 in the back. Do you guys want that to return? I would love it. The old repair torch was always incredibly effective the new one is not effective at all. You can’t repair the nightbird from the inside at all and when I land and repair the torch just sucks. I use it anyway but it is awful compared to the classic titles

@Joe234567891011I think you can repair from the back, as I’ve done it. The sweet spot is crazy small though, and hard to consistently hit especially if the pilot is jinking a lot. It’s like up, back, and left (or right if on other side)@ATFGunr It really doesn’t work well at all the spot is so small it may as well not even exist it can’t really be hit while in motion. When you finally find it the repair is so slow. It’s easier and faster to land and get out to do it. In bf4 you could keep it going easily while in the air and it repaired fast with 2 people

Full removal is overkill. But I understand the frustration of finally connecting with a stinger only to have the heli fly off and return 20seconds later like nothing happened.
With good pilots you basically have a 3-5 second window to deal a fatal blow - anything less is just wasted ammo.
I think some sort of attrition mechanic should be explored. Maybe a hard cap of 300% cumulative self heal. Or perhaps only being able to self repair 90% of damage sustained.
I also wouldn't mind if certain flags in conquest provided a 'repair aura' to nearby air vehicles when their team controlled the flag. That should help make friendly air and ground forces feel better connected, something that Battlefield has always struggled with.

Pilots (helis, not jets I guess) could still fly back to out of bounds or base and jump out with a repair torch to fix the vehicle. So removing auto-heal would at least prevent them from coming back and * everyone right away.
Another option would be to increase the delay until auto-heal starts and also decrease the auto-heal speed. Both would work.

out of players in 4, I think it’s an effort to make it less able to do that in 2042. I’m not adverse to it anyways
