Remove the absurdities

This may be an unpopular opinion but just because this is supposed to be set is a near future doesn’t imply that wing suits and grappling hooks make any sense! The wing suit was clearly added just because they introduced tornados to the dynamic weather feature, which I will get back to because their going the extra mile for absolutely no reason. The grappling hook was a good idea but would be better if it were to be a class feature that aided your team to move from location to location. However it appears this is only to allow players to become Batman and fly around the map like just cause! As for the weather, why does EA/DICE have to go reinventing the wheel when they already had dynamic weather in dlc maps in BF4. This included sandstorms in the second assault DLC and (the name is  evading me) the dlc that included the carrier ship game mode, which included rainstorms. You have to have natural disasters to create a dynamic feature that alters the way players approach the match. If you want to be a pioneer in the area of dynamic maps, introduce a time of day aspect where the time of day is random and changes throughout the match, this will fuel the necessity for making classes that are conducive for night time gameplay. It cool that you want to include cool features to a game and I would expect that from a NEW game, but adding absurd concepts doesn’t count as an upgrade if it’s ridiculous! As of right now it seems that the new additions to the game (wingsuit, grappling hook, and dynamic weather) will become more of an annoyance than a immersive and in-depth experience. Oh, I almost forgot… BRING BACK RELEASE DATE HARDCORE MODE!!!’

@DingoKillr Rounds disappearing on death is a bizarre mechanic indeed!

An encounter then becomes based on weapon characteristics and not the player.

If both players fire sufficient rounds on target then the weapon RPM and bullet velocity should NOT be the only determining factors on the outcome.

It's not an unpopular opinion, it's just a dumb statement.

The warfare is futuristic and both gadgets make perfect sense from that perspective. Even though both the grappling hook and wingsuit are already in use for quite a while now (wingsuit flying mostly for sports, grappling hook was apparently invented by the Romans).

Also, the grappling hook was already added to previous Battlefield expansion packs. Only the wingsuit is really new.

Don’t see how my statement is dumb, when if you read the Wikipedia link you used it would tell you they were used in mainly in naval warfare to latch into ships and in more recent times to destroy obstacles and clear land mines. It was NOT used to become a militarized Batman and it’s an easy cop out to say “it’s set in the future” so it makes sense, the laws of physics today will be the same laws in the future generally speaking. If a device that utilizes a pulley system that is mounted on your arm is going to pull you into the air without injury. If want futuristic it would be along the lines of body armor and weapon systems, everything else is just adding stuff it’s used before that didn’t make the game any better in order to say they’re adding cool new content as opposed to just making a game with better features and gameplay. The portal feature seems fun and I appreciate that they’re adding something new, but EA has a habit of bending their fans over recently and I’m tired of it.

Not a big fan of the grappling hook. It seems more of a CoD idea to me, it would suit that sort of fast paced, super arcade style. The wing suit, I am not sure about, I have not seen it really.

If the hook was more....basic and less zipping around everywhere, I would like it more. For example, you have to be near certain buildings structures to use it. But removing it would be best.

Imagine what DICE is cooking up with the DLC for this game, We will probably get Jet Packs and Hover boards.

  • @Keyko_Santana Let me tell you why it's dumb then: because both modern tools will make perfect sense and only will add to a niche anyways. The wingsuit only allows you to fly down, you can't fly it upwards, which basically is the same as a parachute - just with a bit more movement.

The grappling hook will only extend to a certain height and you'll need to sacrifice another tool for it.

Both tools provide an alternative for the snipers that steal a helicopter and use it as a taxi to go sit somewhere on a roof. I don't really see the downside to that.

Personally I think these tools definitely add some value as you have more options to move where ever you want. I've always disliked the way the newer BF games went, limiting movement as opposed to older BF games.

I understand that some people (like you?) do prefer a linear game where everything is drawn out and were you never have any surprises.

    theyre kids toys.

never shoulda been put in along with the robots and the turrets.

all of it is nonsense and none of it would work in the field, realistically.
