Season 7 "Maps" - Discussion

What kind of "maps" does everyone want to see in season 7?

We are getting two, so I imagine one will at least be infantry only again. In reality we should be getting four maps. But, that's another topic so let's keep it clean lol.

I find the majority of the current maps are poorly designed. There's nothing overly exciting about them, memorable, or even special. A lot of the maps have useless features on them that do nothing. All the maps have shipping containers and plastic bags floating around in the air.

For me I would like to see a return of old school maps. Like strike at kirkland, gulf of Oman, Wake island, and operation metro. There is so much potential in operation metro to improve on it to make it more spooky then it already is. Strike at Kirkland can add more destruction.

As for new maps. We haven't really had a dense forest map yet. Or a map like Arica Harbour with tons of destruction would do nicely.

Maybe we will finally get a naval map with actual naval vehicles.

To make matters worse we will probably get one map at the start of season 7. Then the second one will be released about two months down the road, assuming season 7 is as long as season 6 was lol. So, in reality we are waiting longer for two maps.

But, on the positive side of things. At least waiting longer the maps can be good rather then rushed. It seems like Dice has put the effort in to change the game so much over the last two years, instead of EA. DICE still wants to provide a good and fun experience while supporting their community. So, hopefully the wait is worth it.

  • Would everyone be ok with a map pack for season 7 of, say....4 maps DLC at a price? I feel like that's the best way to go. This way, it keeps the game going, and devs would get paid for work they actually do, and there maybe more effort put into the design of them.

Instead, it seems like there's a live service for 2 years, and after that, it's over. The peak numbers alone on steam were over 107,000. If just half of those players bought DLC, that's a lot of money. But, instead, everything is all free. I don't blame the devs it's more of management that makes these decisions.

I feel like we would get more maps, more quailty maps, better design and ones we can look back on in a couple years and say let's remake that map or remaster it. I can say for certain I ain't going to be like let's remaster kalediscope in 5 years or discarded.

Hoping for a true urban map as well. As posted before in other threads, a map in the spirit of Seine Crossing, Rotterdam/Devastation, Amiens would make me happy. Or otherwise a true jungle/forrest map would be nice as well!

My guess still is we will see the Hourglass stadium back as a standalone infantry only map as one of the 2 new maps

Mackay really changes the dynamics for all the maps you listed (which are all awesome). Previously you could be in a 2nd story window and not have to worry about an enemy popping up into a window from the ground level. Mackay and Sundance really took away some components of the strategies that make it Battlefield.

In future BFs, I really hope they get away from the movement gadgets/perks.

Argonne Forest was also a decent map.

I had a lot of fun on Argonne Forest

@CPU_UK and you don't think that the very same snipers would all be there just waiting for you to climb or pop out of a window of those very same towers?

Yes, maybe a map pack and going with it a new faction and some new weapons/vehicles.

Kind of a DLC, like in the good old days.

@D-Man3847The devs deserve no extra money!! EA/Dice released this game broken. You do not reward failure. I'm not expecting anything better in the next BF game just another 18 month broken game. They also have battle passes and weapons skins(overpriced junk) etc to keep money coming in.

I guess season 8. I don't think it takes that long for them to make maps. They already released them before unfinished. So, at this point who cares any new map would do nicely.
