@DigitalHype wrote:The amount of time between map releases in BF2042 is unprecedented. It has been 21 (or is it 22) weeks since we have actual new content. By the time we get the re-worked stadium it will be almost half a year. Keep in mind that most of that reworked map is already created and all the assets a re-used. How can it possibly take this long to re-work a single portion of a map?
It doesn't, it's part of the scheduled dripfeed of content to release half-way through a season to get people to come back. Jeff Gerstmann was talking about it on his podcast a week or two ago similarly for CoD, the only difference is that CoD's is more than a single map and gun halfway through (I wouldn't know as I don't play CoD/follow it)

I know we’re being dripfed content - that many of the assets are just reuse of existing stuff - and that the amount of content in BF2042 is small compared to at a similar point in time for earlier Battlefield games - but…
I’m just having so much fun playing Redacted and the occassional TDM or “normal” CQ game. And I’m optimistic about Haven being a really good and enjoyable map so I’m looking so much forward to the update tomorrow!
If nothing else, the weapon changes will be interesting to check out - headshot multiplier change, buff to torso Body Armor vs. buckshot and that other type of shotgun ammo (fletcher or whatever it’s called) etc.

@VOLBANKER_PC I’m curious as to what’s in the bag for S8 (folder structure below had been datamined a while ago):
- MackTKau2 years agoRising Ace@VOLBANKER_PC I doubt it'll one hit kill anything in the air, so it'll be worthless because as usual, the helo will just hit it's auto repair and it'll have 2 guys repairing in the back so you can never kill it.
I cannot believe the Stadium map will be held back. It didnt even occur to me. I thought it will launch with it.
I mean, really after what 6 months? 1 map?
Im out.

"How can it possibly take this long to re-work a single portion of a map?"
Because hardly anyone is still working on the game.
- MADMAC50K2 years agoSeasoned Ace@MackTKau the SRAW is going to be useless on the new map - apart from being able to blow the side off buildings. It's not accurate enough to take out a Nightbird, unless the pilot hovers in place, since those things are too small and too manoeuvrable. The new map looks barely big enough to swing a cat, so DICE have only added a NB to pacify the flybois. It's going to absolutely dominate that map.

Let me translate some of these release notes for you:
"We wanted weapons to feel more unique and powerful when it comes to firing them, as such we have made changes to how visual recoil is handled within the game and tuned them to the vision for each weapon.
It's an effort to create a more vivid firing experience, which will provide more visual emphasis on the weight and power of a weapon as you fire whilst aiming down sights."
Translated: We decided to ignore all the balance issues and bugs, and change something no-one asked for - Make the guns feel worse...
-----
"We’re aware that Ground Vehicles currently face too many threats both from infantry and other vehicles, and due to this it automatically encourages defensive gameplay which takes place from a large distance."
Translated: We're aware that ground vehicles are often killed by infantry and air vehicles. So we're going to nerf infantry again and ignore the OP threat from air vehicles....
-----
"We’ve continued our work with the Gadgets Team to lower the amount of C5 from 3 to 2 on Assault and Recon Classes, while Engineers will have access to 3 C5. Anti-tank mines will now take 2 seconds to activate upon being placed, so they can no longer be used in the same fashion as C5.
Up to this point we had aggressive sensitivity constraints on aiming systems on our ground vehicles in order to make sure players cannot necessarily turn the turret at very high speed and there was always a catch up phase for the turret to match your input unless the player was zooming in with these vehicles' primary cannons.
With this update, we are changing that."
Translated: We're making it easier for tanks to kill you, and prevent you from killing them....-----
"We are removing the lock-on that exists on the Y-axis, as well as removing the 40MM Cannon on the Wildcat in order to fully commit this vehicle towards ground to air duty."
Translated: You keep shooting at air vehicles! Stop it! Stop it now!
-----
"Naturally, we’ll continue to assess feedback following all of these changes and act accordingly"
Translated: We don't really care and will continue to make changes that make this game so bad, that everyone except the pilots will stop playing, and EA fold the studio. Oh, but we'll buff air vehicles a bit more before then...
