You can skip to the bottom where I make my point. lol. Does a tree falling make a sound if nobody is around. Referring if anyone reads the great wall of txt. This concludes this rant.
I'm 55 and my bro is about 8 yrs older. The first game he was the top playing last time we played BF4 and he didn't play BF for months. I'm more of a sleeper, just cause I'm not #1 doesn't mean I can't get there. And if I compete it would be against him. BF1-V though I'd have to learn the game better, but I have to like the game first. My BF spirit was broken when BF4 took away the marksmanship bonus points mid game to please all the whiners that complain about snipers getting too much points and saying they were useless and did nothing. A 1400 point shot was now 100 points. So yeah the longer the shot the more points, so it was like getting your fix or a measuring stick what ever you want to call it and when that was removed it ruin sniping. Just add blinding fog and sand if you want to ruin sniping. That's why I quit BFV the 2-3 time after the fog rolled in. I didn't see fog like that a year ago and guessing they added it later. Too me it was to discourage snipers. BFV sucks as it is for sniping with the map lay out and being so small, plus choke points. I was dealing with all that crap and trying to get a grove going, but the fog was the deal breaker, because it would be 5 minutes of not playing waiting for the fog to lift. And at that point I realize I was wasting my time. Pretty much like all the time I have wasted in BF4. Because, BF4 I didn't like from the beginning, which was a children's game compared to BF3. Like when my kid took our dog to the school for show your pet day. Every dog won a reward and it didn't matter what position. That's BF4 too me, where BF3 you could tell the better players from the beginners and there was no short cut to getting good, like BF4. BF4 is like vet playing with noobs, fun for noobs, but boring for vets. I'm not going to accept the challenge from every snot nose kid that wants to try his luck. Too me the game was ruined as fare as being competitive. BF3 you had to earn your stripes. Just slapping on a med kit didn't make the player and all the players running in the med train were doing it wrong. That's more for spamming in the subway and that's doing it wrong too. BF3 has became that as well and most the people don't even know how to play on large conquest. I got a fails ban almost a year ago after playing maybe a week on BF3. PB didn't reply back and EA said go see PB. Other words I was screwed out of the game I paid for. Oh and a cross ban over to BF4 as well. I hate everyone know, including servers that allow this crap. They had rules anyways and kicked me when I got better in the BF3 jet and whined when I jhad the AA near their base in BF4. I'm thinking I'm just too much of a beast for BF, because there is a skill cap on it. Get good, get kicked. Anyways age doesn't slow me down in gaming, well maybe it doesn't, because just hitting the extra butting to run is too much work and I may suicide to get somewhere quicker. But, for me just playing UT for 10 years was enough to get DM out of my system. I've been to the top of the mountain many time and it just doesn't mean as much as it once did. But, I also notice some games were too easy, while other games I couldn't buy a kill. The internet was either helping me or working against me. I could literally see bullets turn mid air to hit targets and to hit a target I just had to get that one shot off and the game would do the rest. On FACE I would hit peoples head just as they went over the middle of the map. Or if I got to the mid map and got the shot off I'd stop the flag carrier just before he was about to score. Players had to get pass me first to have any chance of scoring. But, again the internet would favor me at times and the game was flawed once you know how to work with the internet. Like I said I just had to take the shot and the game would make it so. But, also worked against me other games were 4 rockets to someone would just give them a boost. BF4 the internet can also be with or against you and all it takes to change is for one person to switch team, leave the game or join the game and that could change someone's game. BF4 is you run, you might run pass someone else with out even seeing them or if you stand still someone might not see you. I'd knife people by following them and stop when they did and always stayed to the side of them and they wouldn't see me. People can also just appear in front of you or see you 1-2 seconds before you see them. A lot of times I'd be dead, before I see someone in front of me. So game play has to change to avoid that, like slowing my roll and spotting people before they even get close, unless taking a base and they just pop up and the usually have the advantage, because they already know where the player is. So again I have 23 years experience on how gaming works and I have nothing to prove to some noob playing BF3-4 that feels lucky. When BF4 started nurfing the game to cater to the whiners I was pretty much threw with caring about winning the games or trying to help as much as I could when the community hated me as a player. I didn't get much love in the jets either. Me and other's is why BF4 got so nurf from BF3 and they kept nurfing BF4 into the ground, because new players couldn't take it. I BF for like 7 years straight, then got my first fails ban. What no more BF for me!? Your kidding! EA gave me new BF games, but I had to start over and losing all that history burned. Then I get another fails ban a year ago. BF doesn't want me playing. BF3-4 servers have rules when they shouldn't, guess they don't want snipers shooting out pilots or people on the base. It's easier to deal with snipers if you just add rules to the game and just call them useless. If I kill anyone near the base they whine or jhad a tank/AA camping near the base they wine or chase down air with the jet they whine. They act like if they make it back to the base they should be safe and whine your breaking rules that shouldn't be there. Players don't want to defend their own base, because all they do is run from base to base and don't even care if the base starts getting taking back right away.
Maybe I should get to making my point. I'm not one of these useless snipers, but I do have a bad taste in my mouth and trying to force me to play any other way then I want to play isn't going to set well with me and do just the opposite. People pay for the game and should be able to play the darn game how ever they want, if someone has a problem with that, then that is their problem. Don't like it, then why are they playing the game! Same for people with a Christmas list. Want COD or some other game, go play that. BF isn't going to beat COD or any other game at their own game. As you say age is why you snipe, for me it was because of a crummy 60hz monitor that wasn't any good for run/gun, so I started sniping and spotting for the TM. So people could be sniping for several reasons and people shouldn't be so quick to judge. Also, if people never spotted for the TM or used sofa, then they have no ideal what it is like or the satisfaction a player gets from it. These players are limited to just run/gun and sound like they should play something more fast pace like COD. Oh, there's snipers there. Maybe they should try race games, then. I should get MEGA rank ups for this text, if not maybe I should break it up next time. lol
I do not play maps that are too sniper friendly.
Simple as that.
Problem solved.

I notice that when I played BF1-V small maps got played. BF3 too

There's a reason why small maps are the most popular: most people want the constant action of run-and-gun, and instant-gratification high kill counts. I would be so very pleased if BF gave us more of that. I prefer shooting over spending most of the time time traveling across a map to get to a position to engage. Personally, I couldn't care less about the huge maps with the jets and tanks; I would much rather engage in close quarters combat.
And to add to the sniper discussion, there is no way for someone to quick-scope a sniper rifle in real life, period, so if we're going for realism then that shouldn't be a part of it all. Just my 2 cents.

It kind of sounds like Battlefield isn't the game for you. Those are all big pillars of what make Battlefield.. Battlefield. Usually there's 1 or 2 maps that are pretty CQB but the majority are what you don't want.
It will be interesting to see how the new maps are set up with the 'clusters' of control points - makes me think that they will cater to both play styles. Some clusters will provide for CQB while the no mans land in between will be more for vehicle and long distance combat. If I were you I would pay attention to that info in the coming months.

These games were never about realism. Sure there are elements of it but if it were completely realistic it wouldn't appeal to the masses because the systems would be too 'slow'. If it was a milsim do you really think they would have added a rendezook to the trailer?

Wise choice, the common BF player isnt that intelligent.
Its is like fjell and planes.
BTW i might add i get high bloodpressure from seeing snipers sitting on a rock and doing just "sniping" instead of doing recon for the other players.

Seeing a motion sensor near them spikes it even higher. Completely determined to remain useless.
