@RaginSamCan you test it on console? Maybe some of your friends has a Playstation or Xbox. I am on Series X and get a total different experience. Snap assist works only up to 20 meters and is inconsistant. Normal Aim Assist feels horrible especially when there are more enemies. And if you turn it down you have zero chance against mouse players. Tracking running enemy players is also really hard because snap and normal aim assist collide and its just a mess. Also Controller input is still an issue. In Battlefield 5 it was easy for me to get 50 kills a match. In 2042 I am happy when I get 30 kills on Redacted.
You say aim assist feels horrible then go on to say immediately after that without it you have zero chance to compete (that isn't true). The fact that tracking is impossible in this game has nothing to do with aim assist. It's because input does not function on a fundamental level, across both controller and mouse, if you would listen to the dozens of mnk streamers complaining about it daily.
tldr; controller input is not the issue. Input is the issue.

@BFPlayer10Yes I say as a casual player you need some kind of aim assist to compete. Maybe some "Pro" players can play without it. I lowered it to 70 and it feels a little better. And why should I turn it off when it worked (almost) perfect in previous BF tiltles without crossplay? And yes Input and Netcode are also major problems.
- Alethes2 years agoSeasoned Ace@DonKarnage79 IMO (and only IMO) I do not believe — happy to be proven wrong though — that it is humanly possible to play with a fighting chance against PC without *any* aim assist. (I mean the three sliders set down to zero.) As I said before, thumbs-on-a-stick in a 3D space does not compare with hand-on-a-mouse in a 2D space for micro-control of position-in-screen.
I do agree with many, however, that Console ancillaries can/should be turned down (reduce or remove entirely the lower recoil benefit, for example).
Also, as others have proposed, I fully support the idea of entirely removing aim assist but then keep the matchmaking between consoles only. (With crossplay on against PC by choice.)- RaginSam2 years agoSeasoned Ace

It's not a matter if they should have assist, at least for casual games like BF, it's a question of how strong should the assist be. My perspective is that you want to be a top player in any particular shooter, then you should HAVE to use a mouse to compete at the top levels. If a controller can play at pro levels against MnK players, then it's way over-tuned. How does something that starts of being the far less accurate device, gets over compensated, and then become the more reliable peripheral?
The problem with completely removing assist, like in R6, is that people will then use Xim type devices. That's a dream scenario for us mice users. I'd love to play against people with ZERO assist! Probably not good for the health of your game however. R6 seems to be doing alright however.
I still think there's room to tune assist where its still fair for everyone. The reduced recoil and snap to target are the biggest issues regarding balancing at the moment.
My other view on how the different platforms should handle assist, is that on PC controllers should be given less assist then if you were to play on Console. So if Crossplay is between Consoles only, and PC is kept separate, then the assist could be higher on Console and reduced for PC.
