Since AOW is still a bit of a dumpster fire and updates are glacially slow...what's going on with Portal? It was supposed to be the cool, creative mode where we could do all kinds of fun stuff and would supposedly see new content/features after launch and all and...What's up with it? It seems as abandoned, if not moreso, than AOW? I won't even mention Hazard Zone as that seems totally abandoned, but like...can Ripple be put back on Portal so that we can at least have one good mode in the game that players actually want to play while AOW continues to be neglected?Tons of potential there, and less structural issues than AOW given the more sandbox nature of it, but there's absolutely nothing. Weekly promoted games ain't it, it needs more active curation and promotion of actually good modes. Was there even a plan for Portal post-launch or was the hope that simply giving players tools to create custom matches would be enough?

I wish it wasn't so but it is. Reason also why the gameplay in the 2042 Portal in the BF3 and BC2 environments are not at all offering the same gaming fun and pleasure as when I try playing the originals. These remakes are only a sad shadow of what once was truly epic games.Here yesterday I fired up the old BF4. Darn, more players still live there now compared to BF2042, and there we at least have the real thing of BF of giving us the sensation of epic team battles, community and communicating team work in the game! The very things we had in BF3 and BC2, but not replicated in the portal due to the many shortcomings of the BF2042 environment and backbone.

@edgecrusherO0 I suspect it's a bit baren due to the XP restrictions. Hopefully Dice take another look at that and there's a revitalisation.

Without full xp and progression it will always be a barren wasteland. They need to sort it out, I want to love Portal but its dead until they just take off the restrictions

Portal has a ton of potential, more than I have seen in any other game in a long time.However, it is being completely mismanaged, just like the rest of the game.

So what's even happening with Portal?

@edgecrusherO0 I suspect it's a bit baren due to the XP restrictions. Hopefully Dice take another look at that and there's a revitalisation.

@Nightflyer735 Those days are gone, and in part because every FPS dev has added pointless RPG progression systems and unlocks into these games and essentially trained a generation of gamers to expect this kind of thing.

It's very much a 2-way street here.

I totally agree, but look what it has done.
It is now starting to back fire.
People will soon get fed up of XP and not care anymore.

@Nightflyer735 It's a simple fix at this point: Take the L and just re-enable XP so people can have fun while progressing. I don't see how it compromises anything within the game, there's nobody bloody playing it and maybe this will breathe a week or two of life back into Portal mode.

Even if we have absolutely no visibility on the plans for the future for Portal...or AOW...or the game in general.

True Battlefield players don't give a flying monkey about XP...
That is not the problem!
Portal is not dead because of XP. It is lack of content, and simple things like comms.

It would be even easier: Just put in some XP modifiers for different options. You want to turn up the damage of side X by 90%? Easy, 90% less XP. Want to increase the health by 50%? Easy, 50% less XP. Could be so easiy, they could even put in a little notice like "Attention player, this configuration gives X% less XP". They could have also released a small PDF or just put it onto their website, that specific configurations give only X% XP. Really hurts, how the studio can be so blind and chooses the worst way.
