I won't even mention Hazard Zone as that seems totally abandoned, but like...can Ripple be put back on Portal so that we can at least have one good mode in the game that players actually want to play while AOW continues to be neglected?

Tons of potential there, and less structural issues than AOW given the more sandbox nature of it, but there's absolutely nothing. Weekly promoted games ain't it, it needs more active curation and promotion of actually good modes. Was there even a plan for Portal post-launch or was the hope that simply giving players tools to create custom matches would be enough?

Personally I also saw Portal is the last hope for the BF2042 game to still to be worthwhile some money, just for the sake of getting back into some epic BF3 or BFBC2 gameplay!

But that is not so, mainly because so much of the portal fully relies on so many baseline functions and mechanics from the totally broken BF2042 backbone.  I wish it wasn't so but it is.  Reason also why the gameplay in the 2042 Portal in the BF3 and BC2 environments are not at all offering the same gaming fun and pleasure as when I try playing the originals.  These remakes are only a sad shadow of what once was truly epic games.

Here yesterday I fired up the old BF4.  Darn, more players still live there now compared to BF2042, and there we at least have the real thing of BF of giving us the sensation of epic team battles, community and communicating team work in the game!  The very things we had in BF3 and BC2, but not replicated in the portal due to the many shortcomings of the BF2042 environment and backbone.
