I've been reading about 'veterans' that got invited to testing BF2042, and I'm really wondering who's getting in and how is determined that they're a veteran.I really get the feeling that nowadays if you've been around since BF3 or BF4, you're already a veteran. Also when I look back at for example BF1 and BF5 alpha gameplay, I was always astonished how awful the people that were 'testing' the game were. Sure, you can play the game for years and still be mediocre at it, but I think a lot of long lasting players just have grabbed the concept of how the BF series are meant to be played and they shouldn't just be standing still on the road with a sniper rifle or shooting with a heavy assault rife at a tank.Personally, if someone doesn't know what bftracks and AllSeeingEye were, they just aren't a veteran in my eyes. They have most likely missed the glorious era were Battlefield was introduced and which was still one of the best games I have ever played in my life.Anyways, full disclosure: I didn't get invited and this is not a rant that I didn't get in. However, I'm just worried that not the real seasoned BF players are invited and the gameplay of the game might have to suffer because of essential feedback from real veterans is missing.

@infantrypeasant You do realise that this was a 'Technical' test and NOT a 'gameplay' test?One's ability to play the game will have no bearing what so ever on the aims of the test.It should also be noted that there will 10's, if not 100's of thousands of 'vets' meeting your criteria but as invites were limited to a few thousand, it stands to reason that many will miss out for no nefarious reason other than unlucky.

@infantrypeasant What are you talking about exactly?.... First of all it sure does sound like you are complaining about not playing a technical test and how could you come up with this amazing theory that somehow because some of the people doing the tech test may not have your epic 1337 BF status playing the "right way" and all that then the guys and gals who did the tech tests will ruin the game?..... this was a thread that should not have been.... (just so you have my credentials, got bf1942 day of release and had every bf game since but i can't figure out why it's not increasing my street cred....).

Just to add to Rouvio's point, I started with 1942 as well along with 6 IRL friends, we've kept in touch and generally used BF as our rally point as we were spread across the globe at various times, we have all bought each title as it came out over the years with the exception of me and one one other who didn't get hardline, and each of us have at *least* 5k+ hours in the franchise by now, and all of us were signed up for testing long before 2042 was even announced, and all pre-ordered 2042 when we found out about portal.*One* of us got a invite to the tech test apparently out of the blue, and seeing as time spent/skill level is about the same across the board, I'd say it being a "conspiracy" is a touch far-fetched.Then again, the ones that didn't get invited didn't complain either.

So who are these 'veterans' that get invites to the playtest?

Hello , to be honest I don't know exactly the criteria of selection , but Im here for 4 years and since 2002 on battlefield and since 2005 with origin , my first EA game was a Heart of Africa for commodore c64 was a cassette tape. If they say veterans may be isn't just veterans of battlefield one thing if you're fan of battlefield and other you can demonstrate, I'm sorry if you're not part , but this complaint doesn't help much. Other thing isee you're since battlefield 3 , to be honest isn't much , EA was founded in 27 of may on 1982 , and trust me , if they choose who do the test and who doesn't , certainly they got more knowledge and data than you. Don't get me wrong bro , but you're not on EA answers for many time.

@SirBobdk Yeah I got that, but I've read various claims that specifically veterans were selected, and I'm just wondering if that's true and how that is determined.

@aquaticwriter34 Thanks for your reply. I hope someone can still answer my question though (the criteria). I'm not really interested in whether or not EA (I think you mean Dice) has been around and has 'more knowledge'. That's very obvious.

@aquaticwriter34 No, you can sign up to the ea community playtest website anytime in order to put your name in the hat for tests.

If you are not registered on that website it makes it very vary unlikely that you will get invited to tests.

@Trokey66 Yes, I am aware. I do still think that if you've played for years, you're probably just not awful at the game.

Still, I'm mostly interested if the 'veterans' are maybe just not really veterans, and mostly just people with a relatively old EA account, or even... maybe just a marketing hype (like the only in Battlefield moments).

well i got "invited" but couldnt even play due to connection issues or stupid test times like 7 am lol.... ea is a joke im tired of gaming all together at the moment.
