@infantrypeasant I think it was a mix of both.
For what its worth, I had a playtest account back before Anthem was released, but I never had the time to test that game. When the Tech Test for BF2042 was announced, I randomly checked my emails and saw that I did receive an invitation, even though I never applied for it specifically (if that was even possible, I'm not sure).
I guess I do count as a veteran, since I played Battlefield from the very first 1942 (before Origin or Steam were even a thing), up until and including BF1. BF V is the only Battlefield I have not played at all and did not have it on my account until the Amazon Prime giveaway for it.
