Real BF players like myself who love COMBINES ARMS gameplay and not BF3 COD games ... Also many peoples dont even give the game a chance because of the relentless fanatical hate campaign against the game who spend all their free time hating on the game on Reddit and Youtube ..
2042 is an evolution of BF between BF2 and BF4 style of classes and loadout .. Specialist are basically just a " Locked " 1rst slot gadjet , and the secondary gadjet and weapons are custumizable so you dont get wrong players getting the wrong classes or duplicate to much of the same classes just because they want a AR or a Sniper ..
BF2042 is way more of a Combines arms conquest game like BF2 than BF3 or Bad company ever were .. Bad company was all build around small scales 12 vs 12 16 vs 16 Rush game mode .. And BF3 was mostly builded around COD style Infantry base maps and gameplay and CQC DLC and so on .. Its not that these games were BAD .. THey were just way less of a BF game than BF2042 is ...
2042 is back into the combines arms game .. and sadly DICE rushed its launch and the lack of 100% polish etc.. gave the weapons for the haters to add up to their hate narative ..

I second that!
I think they overreached, tried to get "everyones" attention. What we got was a product average/below average in considering the different target groups genres.
As a battlefield, meh.
As a arcade shooter, meh.
As a milsim, bad.
As a hero shooter , meh.
As a "tarkov" meh/bad.
With all the anti toxicity I think they secretly has younger teens as a target group also even though they can't admit it of legal reasons. Customers with low impuls controll and a free wallet to buy some skins.
I'd rater have them earn money through dlc's.
Skins feels so hollow, aint really content.

I couldnt remain with a straight face comparing BF2042 with a BR or an Arena game ... 2042 is as far from an Arena game as planetside 2 or MAG were ...
BF3 in the other end was an Arena shooter in many maps and modes .. RUSH game mode introduce with BFBC was a linear " Arena style " map with little to no flank possible where the battle always range from Right , Left , Middle attack that open up but the other part of the map is left behind so its another rectangle like maps that open and once again remain Linear ..
BF2042 was build from the ground up to be a Large scale combines arms game with heavy focus on teamplay , Anti infantry , Anti armor , Anti air dynamics .. Regardless of anecdotes or else its how the game was build .. Lacking VOIP and platoons and team structure is a real problem tho in 2042 wich can create the chaos some peoples feel they cant organise etc..
BF2042 is way closer to a game like planetside 2 than it is from a game like any arena shooter ..
BF3 and BFBC2 was closer to COD arena game than any BF games before it .. Also EA never wanted BF to become a fully fledge BR games because they didnt want another EA game to compeate with their very sucessfull BR wich is Apex legends .. Specialist were not created to be BR characters at all ..

For me, 2042 is a downgrade in probably almost every aspect of BATTLEFIELD gameplay in general when compared with BF5.
Also, using a map from a pure CQ DLC and saying its representative for entire BF3 is a bit of deception, isn't it? The BF3/4 CQ maps were a nice distraction and addition but never replaced true BF modes and maps.
The rush mode however, is a successful addition to BF and perfectly fits the typical BF style.
