I think more than enough has been said about the specialists and their influence in the game.
For me (I come from the "school" of bf3 / 4/1) it makes no sense to exist in a Battlefield as we all veterans are used to thinking it ...
But this Bf2042 is a thing in itself and does nothing (like it or not) to prove otherwise.
So essentially you can only do 3 things about it:
1) "swallow the pill" and adapt (and maybe over time learn to appreciate them)
2) Play portal and pray that this mode is not abandoned as it is happening ...
3) Sorry to say but ... Stop playing this Bf and move on to something else (if nothing else, you save yourself from getting nervous)
Just to conclude:
The flying squirrel shouldn't really exist regardless ...

I choose option 4: keep complaining till they give us back the old class system!
or make the specialist system better so its clear for everybody in the team/squad who is carrying what and display everybodies level so you can easily adapt your loadout accordingly or change team/squad if the rest is not compatible with your playstyle.

Good for you that you still want to make yourself heard in the hope that they will do something about it ...
Frankly, apart from adding a few more later, I have big doubts that they will make any major changes.- cornybbq24 years agoSeasoned Ace
@BlackSize23-ITAIt can’t be that hard to come up with a system that pleases everybody…
Divide the specialists ( maybe even let us customize our very own specialist) into classes, add a scoreboard, next to your name you’ll get your level number and some icons that represent what you are carrying in your loadout.
+ add voice chat, fix hit registration, make some better maps and EVERYBODY is happy and teamplay will get a boost.
I could draw it all out for you in a day EA/DICE!- 4 years ago@cornybbq2
I would also add to fix the revive properly ...
In 20 hours of testing this weekend it is absurd the number of times I have not been able to revive ...
I really am just happy that I have never bought a game on day one again in my life (thanks again Rome 2 total war) ...
But MY GOD I really, even wanting to buy it, I really can't find a suitable price for this game (too many things that are wrong or that I don't like).

Portal right now does not make sense to be played as the Dice is doing everything (so to speak) except to properly support this mode. - cornybbq24 years agoSeasoned Ace@Stew360 🙂 don’t worry dude, portal is all i play. But i will keep complaining about the stupid specialists. The new system (and because its new) needs work. Squadplay should be kept in mind while developping and that is where they’ve dropped the ball. Its not teamplayfriendly. Maybe next battlefield game will get it right.

The specialist system could work well, but it needs to be tuned, in my opinion.
At the moment, I'm missing a focus on squad- and teamplay. Someone mentioned that the specialist system gives everyone more options and the freedom if they want to help their team or not. So technically, teamplay like providing ammo, reviving, spotting and so on is possible. The problem, however, is that it's not really encouraged and sometimes feels like less fun. I remember that I would get score and awards for giving my teammates a ride or repairing their vehicles in older Battlefield games. It felt really good to help. In BF2042 it's so optional that it's not really done that much. I also felt much more important in my role as i.e. the engineer, because I was one of the few people who could repair our tank.
I see that all of these mechanisms still exist in BF2042's class system... I kinda just wish they were more focused on, more important to win a game.
