I have to admit this feature has really bummed me out. I hope it's not as bad as I think but this whole thing wreaks of focus group marketing studies that is seeking to appeal to the Apex Legends or R6 Siege crowd rather that core Battlefield fans who in my observations today are overwhelmingly opposed or worried about this feature. Dice, please understand that yes you may appeal to the Apex fans more with this feature and even sell more copies of the game. Perhaps that is all that matters to you but these are not your core BF players and I think you will further damage the series by doing this. Trust me these fair weather BF fans will be back to playing Apex Legends or R6 in 30 days after release, so please consider the core BF fans.
I'm not so much opposed to the personalities of the specialists being included if strictly cosmetic and as long as I can still use these "specialists" gadgets and perks as a generic soldier. But to lock these abilities to a certain aesthetic is very limiting. Many just want to play an average grunt in the thick of the battle. Not a cliche Russian dude or medical female to access their equipment. Please reconsider this

- 5 years ago@AOD_Rancidx All valid points, but I doubt they are going to rethink this. I think once we get into the gameplay, core BF fans will be more than happy. The core experience BF fans expect seems to be there. This is totally opposite to what R6 and Apex players want when you think about it. They want controlled scenarios, not total chaos lol.
So yeah, they will be back on Apex and R6, likely within 30 hours instead of 30 days lol - 5 years ago
I hear you loud and clear. I'm getting "Hero" vibes from these specialist, but before you say no to the game try out the beta first. I'm not judging this until I can play it for myself.

A flag immediately went off for me. I'm gonna be pretty upset if you can't get two gadget slots. Look at the recon specialist he basically has the flying drone and ground motion tracker that the recon class could have in 3/4...

Let's see how it goes in the beta. I'm open to some new ideas and let's hope that with some new folks at the studio and with some fresh ideas come great gameplay and lots of fun for both veterans of the franchise and new players too.
I can hardly wait to play it. By the look of things, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

I just hope we can run two gadgets and the abilities can't be spammed and we should be okay..

Yep this game is kinda looking like a hero shooter and I'm pretty pissed off, They have literally perfected BF games in 3/4 why are they doing this *?? Because it worked in COD?? I'm kinda hating the way BF has been handled since BF4 and I'm getting sick of it
- 5 years ago@ProGam3r13 exactly. I play BF games because i like battlefield MP over other franchises. I dont want BF to ape anything else

Welcome to how the old school felt when they started aping Cod in BC2, Bf3 and Bf4. It's just par for the course at this point.
Doesn't mean it's gonna be bad, but Battlefield changes over times, a lot of OGs weren't happy with the direction the games took in BF3 and 4, but people grew to like it again, as a different kind of battlefield from what they were used to in ye olden days. - 5 years ago
doesnt look that way to me. Im not sure why everyone is throwing the term hero around anyway. Specialty characters aren't heroes its not star wars, and they are fully customized according to the site. We will just have to wait and see.

They will each have unique abilities. so yes "hero" has essentially been rebranded as specialist with a few tweaks. How customizable? Do I have to play as Maria to be a medic? can I change name race gender? I don't play as a women never will.

I don't want these "specialist" classes in BF4 I can be a sneaky sniper class with motion sensors and silencers or I can take on tanks with a carbine and C4. BF3/4 are great because of the customisation and as a result, the teamwork/squad work needed to win a match or at the very least perform well. It's so infuriating they can't get this right like seriously how smooth are the brains at DICE and EA if they can't listen to their passionate community.
Seriously all they had to do was improve BF4 with the tonnes of community feedback over the years and they go ahead and do this dumb crap.

I absolutely hate that we’ll once again be seeing silly cosmetic stuff in the game.

I want to get more concrete info on the specialists before I make my decision on what I think about them

exactly right......we all need to calm down about the whole specialist thing untill we are absolutely sure of what we are dealing with
