Anyway you can have generic soldiers with free weapons and leave specialists like the heroes of SW Battlefront.
Many players did propose many solutions: personalised soldiers, coexisting generic soldiers and operators. And all are great options. I took some of them and here i'm just expresing my idea:
On one hand, you can have generic soldiers with customization options and, in the other hand, you can have specialists like special forces or some sort of "heroes" like SW battlefront heroes but with a more realistic aproach.
- The generic soldiers could have normal health and armor and will lack of the specialist gadget. They may have a trait to give them some difference between them. They could choose any weapons grenades and traits.
- The specialist will have specialist gadget and could have more HP and armor. They could work as heroes and any players could choose them if available (like vehicles) in BF, you can have one per team or you can make them per faction, eliminating any chance of clones in the game. This make sense because there are 10 specialist planned at launch and others 4 just with the first DLC. In a year you can have easily 20 specialist making very easy to choose one
- 4 years ago@CTA-Limi7-L3sS- Having limits per specialists is a great idea. Will make them feel more like specialists. Otherwise, I still think weapons should be locked varying the class. In no way should a medic be able to use a bolt action sniper with an AT launcher.

yes, you can lock certain specialist to classes or you can let them have any item and gadget, but you will have a limited amount of them on the battlefield (you shouldn't be able to select certain specialist if other player in your team already select him/her), making more sense overall
