Spent thousands of dollars in competitor FPS and only $50 on Battlefield skins

I've never posted on these forums before, but I have always wanted to ask one question...

Why are paid Battlefield skins so disappointing compared to other games?

I really think EA is missing out on a lot of money here. My friends and I VERY rarely buy anything from the Battlefield store....but make it rain cash in a competitor FPS's store.

I will not mention any other games in here. However, I will say that Battlefield skins are the least appealing out of all the games I play. The only word that comes to mind when I think of Battlefield skins is "dull" or maybe "boring". For instance I like playing the character with the shield so I went to the store to buy skins for him....not a single skin had a different colored shield. Even worse than that there was only one skin with a skull that mildly stood out...the rest looked like default skins to me.

In a competitor FPS I have weapons that have lightning tracer rounds and a gun that has a lightning effect with the more kills you get. I have a skin that looks like the villain from my favorite cartoon growing up. I have a skin that has the Devil's Lettuce printed all over my armor and tool used to smoke it attached to my face.

In battlefield all I get for spending my hard earned money is a skin that looks like the default skin and you can't even see the difference when you are holding a gun. In other games when you buy skins you can see watches, metal objects on your gloves, pulsating colors, cold fog from your ice armor dispensing off of you as you fight, or molten lava armor moving around your gloves.

And before someone says "Well Battlefield is realistic"....please explain why Battlefield has the Fire Team Bundle then. All the skins in that bundle have pieces of their armor lighting up. It's a very dull.....boring....light up, but the skin is still showing armor that is not realistic.

Meh... Never ever bought a skin. To each their own, I guess.

@Kane_XIVYou’re not wrong, traditionally the skins in battlefield were geared towards a tactical advantage, better camo etc. Since 2042 came out, with purple highlights or red highlights, I’ve been more turned off from them than ever. I see the dozer skin at the end of the season 5 battlepass with giant horns and I think it’s just stupid. I know people that buy skins, and I appreciate that you’re helping to fund the ongoing game with your purchases, I’ve just never understood the allure of paying money for a skin that you really only see at the start or end of the round, or maybe on the kill cam when you’re laying dead on the ground. Can I ask why you like those loud kind of skins? I mean that legit, I’m not yanking you I just don’t get the opportunity to find out why people make different choices than me often, so want to take the chance to ask you. I’ve actually thought that 2042 went too far with their skins as it’s not COD or Apex that does seem to make use of non traditional military uniforms, and you’re saying they haven’t gone far enough. I’d appreciate hearing your take on it,

@Kane_XIV The short answer is that BF has never had skins like you described and 90% of players don't want them.
We care more about the game playing smoothly and being balanced rather than what our character looks like or that our bullets have pretty tracers.

If it was a WW 1 setting as in BF1 and you could then buy cosmetic items which would fit into a WW 1 setting and thus enhance the atmosphere and immersion, then skins as concept would be a great addition.
Sadly Battlefield’s being transformed into yet another Hero arcade shooter and thus almost anything goes skin-wise apparently.

Battlefield is in a challenging niche. Wild skins almost make it too gimmicky for the genre. They tried going that route with the introduction of the Specialists, and it backfired big time.
The other issue is you can't even see your own skins outside of maybe your weapon. Compare that to 3rd person games where you can actually see the skin you bought.
So skins are arguably the lowest priority for me in this game.
They just need to continue to sell the Battle Passes and seasonal content.

Because Battlefield should never have tried to jump on the COD skins bandwagon, its a reason why the game sucked and failed so badly at launch instead of being a Battlefield game.

With so many insane skins in games like CoD, they sort of all cancel eachother out in a way and become less special in my opinion (most of them actually come off as tacky to me but to each their own).

BF has more subtle skins which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea, but every once in a while you get a banger like the Heritage bundle -- only problem is you limit your playstyle because thr skins aren't universal.

What? You don’t like Falks 10 different versions of the same exact outfit but with slightly different colors? The same helmet for Irish in 5 different colors?

Yeah the effort towards skins from DICe is bare bones minimum.

And I’m talking about seeing proper military looking outfits. Not Fortnite or COD abominations = neon pink fantasy skins.

Id like to see futuristic Russian Marine skins with the striped blue undershirt. How about some German Flektarn, US digicamo and various other takes on futuristic camo and equipment. We don’t need COD and Fortnite clown skins.
