@Noodlesocks Why would they though? Up to now everyone has made do with third party coms, and it's not adding anything useful to the game experience that can't be covered by some pre-recorded sound clips and a few keybinds.
One option covers a useful feature somewhat (pre-recorded clips and keybinds), the other one is more than likely going to be used for abuse and harassment as much as anything useful if normal BF text chat is anything to go by.
There's a reason quite a lot of people turn off ingame VOIP almost as a rule and stick with clan or game discords etc, because the sheer amount of stupid is mind-numbing sometimes.
I don't care in the slightest if someone curses but much like text chat, the amount of inane spam or raging or general idiocy on unmoderated voice chat isn't worth the occasional nugget of actual useful information, and though our clan chat can be "interesting" at times to say the least, not a single person there doesn't understand that how we talk to each other is not how you talk to people you don't know or those that might prefer a bit more mellow chat (to the point that it gets toned down immediately if we have guest on, especially if someone's kids drop by).
With that example above, what's to entice Dice to put in a feature that almost anyone can agree would most likely turn into the localized verbal version of 4chan inside of 5 minutes in most cases?
I'll take the branching verbal queue tree any day, i don't have much faith in humanity left to lose, but localized open chat would probably waste my time more than it would improve my gaming experience.
Personal opinion of course, and not an attack on anyone wanting it, I just don't see why Dice would give themselves that particular headache being responsible for the content, when even the bare minimum of an IRC-like chat creates drama constantly on a daily basis.
