If I remember rightly BF4 / BF1 both had 5 player squads then BFV went back to 4.
I personally wouldn't mind bigger squads but I don't think they will change BF2042 squad sizes at this stage

Larger squads would make teamwork much easier because with the current system we can't spawn on our squadmate if someone is under fire, or if a bird flies in their general direction 200 meters away ;-) so it artificially breaks up squads when squadmates have to spawn on a flag that is likely 150-200+ meters away. And as you said BF4 and BF1 had 5 man squads and all 3 of those games had better squad cohesion as a result.
- Anobix3 years agoSeasoned Ace@ragnarok013 I think having larger squads falls back on only the squad leader being spawnable (minus having a beacon or something else). Otherwise clearing out a point could be harder than clearing a kitchen of cockroaches.
But as I've mentioned before, I really would have liked to have had larger parties than 4.- cso77773 years agoSeasoned Ace
@AnobixBattleBit has 8 player squads and it works fine (with 128+ players at least).
It can make it harder to capture a flag, but this can actually be an advantage. Fighting over flags becomes way more intense, it makes each flag feel like a battle on its own. In BattleBit fighting over a flag can take much longer time than in 2042, it is not just a case of killing a few enemies and capturing. You have to kill a lot of enemies and this requires many players working together. BattleBit has a 'epicness' to the fighting because of the intensity and 'brutality/chaos', which is missing from 2042.
Furthermore it makes 'lone-wolfing' more difficult - the chance of running into a larger squad is bigger.

@ragnarok013
Yeah I had forgotten about BF2 having 6 man squads.
I definitely agree we need larger squads especially now we have the 128 player mode. - Ai-Fluffy3 years agoSeasoned Ace

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
So so broke.
On discord with someone and they have made it to a good position asking me to spawn on them and the game blocks me as a sniper on the other side of a mountain is firing.
OR spawn on squad mate and insta death as they are been beamed by 20 infantry and a tank.
They need to remove this completely. It doesn't work and its been broken since day one.- ragnarok0133 years agoHero+

What MoHW did was tell you in the UI that your teammate was trying to spawn on you so you can get into cover so he could spawn. MoHW's system seemed to have been much smarter regarding what "under fire" was than BF4-2142's overly sensitive system.
- 3 years ago@RayD_O1 Don't forget that Battlefield Hardline has 5 player squads as well. Such an overlooked game; I still enjoy playing it.
You would have thought that EA/Dice would have increased the squad size when they introduced 128 player game modes with BF 2042.- RayD_O13 years agoHero

I think for a standard game configuration you shouldn’t be able to spawn on someone under fire.
this is because being able to spawn under fire adds a really kaotic aspect to the overall game play. I.e and organise team that is clearing an area and is in a one on on firefight with people randomly spawning in in surprise would just be super annoying.
that moment of intense fire fighting and suddenly anothe player spawns in? No thank you.
that said, it would be fun to play on occasion on a server with that option enabled, I personally just wouldn’t want to play it all that often.
Squad sizes should definitely be more than 4 and I quite liked the odd number squads. It made me at least think about how I could support the other two pairs of players.
i.e tank driver, main gun and passenger mechanic. I’d wager if you had a team of six, you’d more often than not just pair up rather than roll as a larger squad. Unless your superoegaised squad on mics.
Not gonna lie, I’m still playing BF4 and don’t hold any hope 2042 or future releases will be any good with regards to what drew me to BF originally. Just don’t think I’m there target audience anymore.
