I would like to suggest a solution for the low player base.the game has been out for a good few years now unfortunately I have just discovered it but I can’t play the game for the amount of time I would like to because of not enough players on PlayStation and when I turn crossplay on I find it far to difficult and frustrating. My suggestion is make the game free to play with the basic PlayStation plus service and the Xbox game pass. You will still make money on the game with in game add ons and the player base would be a lot healthier. For example look at the game war thunder that is free and still attracts lots of players to this day.I am thinking about downloading the older ps4 version just so I can play console cross play.

@mickey921 i want to laugh, but the game is already on gamepass and no matter how cheap DICE decides to make it it will still be a subpar piece of software and no amount of patches will fix the fundamental issues and netcoding in this software

@mickey921 BF2042 isn't really set up to make money with a F2P business model. Maybe they don't really need to sell more copies though?F2P also attracts cheaters. Even with a $5 entry with the Play Pass on the EA app, it's still a deterrent. If the cheat detection is good enough, then they won't want to keep making new accounts over and over again.Tell your friends about it. Get them to try it since it is only $5 to play.

People have been asking for BF2042 to go free to play since launch. IMHO that will just bring the lowest common denominator. I don't see this as a fix.

I'll trust that EA has a small army of financial people. The second that their spreadsheets say that going F2P would be money maker you can bet they'd make that decision.I'm not sure EA is interested in leaving money on the table in order to grow the player base.

Ps plus members can claim battlefield from tomorrow 10 am uk time. Look forward to an increase in players hopefully it has the desired effect.

@AngrySquid270 ^^^^ This. Trust me they have revenue/profit models (that can be wide in scope and encompass platforms/games) that tell them this.

@nrod125The revenue model is to sell skins and other cosmetics. Those packages are already showing up in the PlayStation Store ahead of the PS Plus "release" tomorrow.

They could make solo/coop and Hazard Zone F2P. That way a new player can test the water in Solo/Coop and try out HZ.

I think they should just cut their losses and focus on making the next game actually good at launch and fun to play. The older games are a lot better and still have more players than this game.
They really need to put maximum effort into whatever they're working on because they have squandered their position in the market. Other games today are doing the large scale FPS better. Other games are doing destruction better and they're offering the experiences for free. The franchise can't rest on it's laurels anymore if they want it to survive.

@Noodlesocks I agree but they have at least a 4 season obligation to those that bought the gold edition. That is why I was surprised that there was going to be a season 5. I would like to know how much they are making off the skins the sell in the store and BP.

I’m fairly sure that’s what all the console players are doing. No PC players and 32 vs 32. 128 is way too many players.
