Suppression is something we need to get back!

For context, I was running behind a squad mate when an enemy started firing from behind. Still alive, I turned around to spray the source of fire so I can give my squad mate a chance to get to cover. We ended up both downed in an instant, despite me hitting our opponent a couple of times. These encounters are a norm in BF. But in editions prior to 2042, it was useful to give your team mates some covering fire. It increased their chance of survival and slightly increased yours too. In other situations you would want to spray some snipers with a machine gun to prevent them from picking your team mates when you push on an objective, or to allow your team’s snipers to be effective. Suppressing fire is invaluable and, in my opinion, makes the game more strategic, or in some scenes insanely exiting.

I really want to see it return.

  • If you could fight through suppression, sure, whatever; I absolutely HATED lining up the perfect shot only to have the bullet fire diagonally...

  • Ahhh if BF could go back to be the more hardcore rough experience we had in the past...

Stopped hoping for this to ever happen. Or it would need EA to actually admit how much they f*d up their few last BF. (yeah to me BFV is in the same bag, not as terrible but still)

  • With snipers being absolutely ridiculously easy to use a little suppression is needed!

This game make call of duty snipers look skilled

  • Please bring back suppression fire for the support class. The ability made the game much more realistic and strategic.

I believe the perk is more valuable than another 100 magazine for a gun that already has plenty of ammo. In addition, the average person will not use all that ammo before losing their life.

  • @SmackChatHC I agree, I’ve been firing with LMGs and ARs at snipers or DMR users and they calmly just aim and fire. They know the cone of bullets that 2042 has adopted will allow for a number of misses and they can take a hot or two so they don’t need to really sweat it in the first moments of a fire fight. A little suppression, done right, is needed. Lol of course I’m not convinced these are the devs to do it right, but it needs something to create balance.
  • I want to see suppression like you see in the tactical shooters; give the player the feeling of a high stress response/heightened adrenaline through the UX: Changes in visual acuity, heavy breathing that changes the weapon sway erratically (rather than bullet deviation), audio changes (maybe compressed dynamics with a different EQ curve applied to simulate hyper-vigilance), maybe triggering a chance of some panicky shouting and swearing, temporary slightly quicker sprint speed.

I also would like to see peeking walls/cover and crouch sprinting make a return; I used those constantly.

  • There should be suppression.

When a sniper is able to line up a perfect head shot while being fired at, that's not right.  They should be suffering some kind of visual effect to highlight that they have been seen and are being fired upon - it should be harder for them to line up a shot if they are under fire themselves.

  • We definitely need it back for LMGs. Makes sense. I don’t know why it was removed

@Godkiller333Easy, the non support players hated it effecting the direction of their bullets.

I really miss it from BF1 which featured some of the most amazing long range LMG play in the series.

It felt like you were in control of a lethal machine gun and you could hold down whole squads and they would have to back off or flank you.

And you really felt like you were helping your team push or hold a point.
