Thank you EA for going serious on the Anti Cheat for 2042!
Just to start out this thread, the title is not meant to be ironic!
EA just dropped a substantial load of official info regarding their Anti Cheat (AC) measures implemented and prepped for the BF2042 game. And I like all I have seen so far of it!
Here some of the highlights:
Fair Play - We already heard about the principles, but now EA reveals that they have now specific and dedicated teams sat up to combat the cheaters:
EA also confirmed that Easy AntiCheat would be the standard AC in the BF2042 game, but we had heard about that already.
But what was communicated next was amazing and great new tones from EA on AC !!
Instant and permanent bans across all platforms of cheaters!
And even one step further, IP and hardware bans if necessary!
No warnings, and no silly temporary suspensions only anymore.
Play fair by the rules, or you are out!
BRAVO EA !!! 👍
With a 60$ game license and additional IP and hardware bans enabled, then we can quickly make it an expensive venture for those pesky cheats if they want to come back and cheat some more.
Further, EA commit to continued ongoing refinements and add-ons to the AC measures for our BF2042 game, so Easy AntiCheat is not the only tools in our pack to combat the cheats.
And all this will already be engaged when the beta goes live next week.
And next is the great enhancement to how you actually now very easily can report players while you are in the gameplay. In the last many BF games it was a terrible hassle to report players involving 8-10 mouse clicks. And on console it was near impossible from the console itself, as those reports went instead to MSFT or SONY and they only cared about any breach of their console TOS and not any cheaters/hackers within a given game, as that is a responsibility of the game company itself. So on console we had to capture evidence and then from a laptop/PC later then contact EA to file a report through their standard online support groups...
So here for BF2042 we now have a fantastic in-game reporting system from EA to support us on this!
Go to the scoreboard, highlight the player in question, click one button and this opens up for detailed reporting of the culprit!
As that was not already enough great news on the AC front, then EA throwed in this one on the top:
EA listened to us, their customers!
And understood their stone-walling on what happened to cheaters we reported to them would not suffice. We needed evidence of being listened to, that they imposed accountability and consequences for the cheaters we report to them. So now we will get a confirmation if action taken against any of the cheats we may be reporting to them.
Again...
BRAVO EA !!! 👍
Some posters on this forum have also recently been debating if profanity in the squad audio or the chatbox should be filtered or not, and EA also revealed some points about the player options on how to handle this to each own preference:
And last but not least, admins can apply player bans across multiple Portal Servers that you have created!
I am really very happy for all these AC measures that EA have shared with us here they have put in place for the BF2042 game. It sounds and looks really promising for a clean gaming experience for us. So now I am even more excited for this next BF venture. It's going to be epic!
BRAVO EA and thank you for listening to our prayers and pleas
for a fair gaming experience! 👍
I agree @Rev0verDrive ,
The IP bans are no longer a viable option, as most ISP these days issue their IPs dynamically ad-hoc on new connection requests, and some even refresh on 24h shifts as you highlight.
Its actually because many ISPs have started to monetize providing an exclusive and fixed IP as a premium service to some of their clients. So YES, you can get a fixed IP, but you have to pay extra for it! 😀 The rest of us cheap gamers connecting through our local ISP just have to be happy with whatever IP they assign us at the time and place...
The only place where IP bans still works, is if wanting to avoid users to login through VPN connections, as the VPN vendors have a static IP address range pool they own, so to speak. And that is publicly kept up to date globally by IANA (function under ICANN). Many may object to this, as there are thousands of alternative VPN service providers out there. But they do all not to confirm with the intl norms for connecting their service to the net. And the simple use of BGP and DNS hostname lookup is providing info if a given connecting IP is belonging to a VPN service.
Anyway, the most solid approach forward for EA (and all of us!) in this domain to ban a given user is to issue a ban to individual game licenses and potentially combined with or on top also a ban on the client's hardware finger print. The AC is running on the kernel, so its not for the ordinary dimwit to circumnavigate. And to get back on for a previous banned cheater will always incur then a substantial cost to culprit. And in all circumstances, the original soldier in the game is no longer active, so it will be starting all over from scratch with a new soldier from XP=0.
No warnings and no silly temporary suspensions anymore.
Play fair by the rules or you are out!
Just this last point is a huge improvement versus previous and makes me confident the fair-play results will be substantial, making the BF2042 eco-system a great place to have fun for the next many years out!
