The big map was a step in the right direction

This was one thing i could take away as a positive. Just my opinion of course i know not everybody likes big maps, but i love them.

Reminded me so much of BF2 with a big open map to move around, not constantly being bottle necked into choke points that people just camp all day, or constantly taking sniper fire everywhere you go because everybody is forced into small areas of the map. felt good to just hop in a jeep and go full speed ahead anywhere i wanted trying to run some people over!

it was nice to see the army spread out with battles happening at every flag instead of the zerg ball just going between a few flags because it only takes 10 seconds to run there.

I hope there are more big maps like that. AND I hope they add the option to reduce the maps down for people who do enjoy the smaller maps. This was a feature in BF2 that i found so awesome how every map could be reduced down in size with less flags for people who enjoy that style of play.

    Map was decent but only 2 tanks to 5 aircraft for 64 players is really dumb.

    So I just updated the names on the list above, to show what are the marketed map names...

    Thx for reminding me.

    Renewal is the map with the large wall, separating the rich fertile farming land from open desert. 

    Breakaway is the map on Antarctica, which we also saw used in the reveal trailer with the battle on ice/snow.

    @UP_Hawxxeye To be fair, the tanks in the beta instantly respawned after being destroyed.
    We only got one a side on Xbox One.

    I never saw anything instantly respawn in the beta… ?

    Maybe a console-specific thing?

    yeah i didn't see anything insta-respawn either.

    Vehicle spawning was a bit bugged too. Sometimes showing vehicles available but not letting you spawn into them.  

    Also there seemed to be a new feature that gives you an automatic cooldown to using a vehicle again in the same category even if there are others available.  

  • I really miss the vehicles spawning in at certain check points to capture. the maps in BF2 use to have tons of vehicles and depending on what faction took the flag would spawn that factions armor types. it was great, you could even steal their stuff if they didnt use it. not sure why this went away, just another feature lost for no reason.

    Not either on PS5 console.  👍

    Quite a long timer delay from vehicle destruction till a new respawned...

    I like the Conquest Large maps being as big as possible....the bigger the better for the sandbox experience. BUT if they are going to offer different size variants, then let the players choose which one they want to play on, especially with AI bots being available.

    BF 2042 takes it to a whole new level by offering varied terrain within the large maps like indoor areas, open areas, and different terrain all being included in one map!  EA is letting you choose between the different map variants within portal, but I'd like to be able to choose between Conquest Large and Small on in the All Out Warfare modes both multiplayer and Solo/Coop since that is where you can obtain progression.  I know this potentially divides the player base further but isn't that what we want...more options and content?  I really hope EA continues to release the Large maps alongside the smaller variant to choose from if you want.  

    BF 2042 is shaping up to be one of my favorite games of all time!

  • Of all the threads to necro, this could be entertaining.  I know a few posters in here have had a change of heart lol.

    But on topic, are they maps really that big?  I'm not feeling it.  At least not in the usable area they've put us in.  There are large areas no one goes to because there's no flags there.  So what's the point?  We end up with 128 players fighting in an area no bigger than BF4 maps.  In many cases, I guarantee its smaller than maps like Golmud Railway, Giants of Karelia, Silk Road, Dragon Pass, Dragon Valley, etc.
