man it almost seems like EA hired a call of duty guys to make this game. Then they said “sure we will build our Competition.” Then bombed the game.. but for giggles just go play warzone then hop back on battlefield.. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some of the same code…

OK as a long time BF player, I will say it.
The idea of the specialists isn't bad. And I found their abilities lead to interesting battle situations. And I like that im not stuck with certain guns. And sure why not? The locked classes has been done to death so fresh ideas are always welcome.I think the problem is more in the execution of said idea.
First off, they look silly. Their cartoon like visuals don't help esp when you wanna talk "all out warfare". How should they look? Well, look no further but the main soldier of their marketing campaign. That dude isn't in the game. Looks meaner and lean. Had they made the specialists super serious, dark and make clear and obvious separate skins for the US and RU, I think fewer people would complain. So again, I think while they could have been done better, they are not the main problem (at least for me).
The problem or dumbing down is more at the core of the game. They removed everything that WORKED in the past. Server Br, scoreboard, quicker com rose, join squads, the list goes on and on and there are plenty of topics about em. I remember when i booted up the beta and my first thought was - this is a console game. The GUI makes no sense on the PC. blabla
The frustrating thing is, this game could have EASILY been a top notch BF experience, yes, even with the Specialists. Bugs are forgiven because those will get fixed, we know. But the rest is really unforgiving. Balancing has always been and issue and will get tweaked. Thats to be expected.
IMO, had 2042 launched with all the core elements of the past BF games, a better GUI, better visual design of the specialists, incl TDM and RUSH with a few custom maps for each (or even variations of the main maps), at least 50 weapons, more skins, this game could have easily been a 9/10.
Dice had 3 years with no single player contend to create - this experience is lacking in all aspects and im not sure if this game can be saved. The fundamental changes that they would have to do, wont happen. Im 100% sure of it. If we are lucky we will get a updated player board (that you already find in the menu, bottom left) so we have some kind of scoreboard. Yes, vehicles will get balanced, weapon spread will get fixed etc but thats it.- carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace@Buzzfunk That is good feedback. Thank you.
- 4 years ago@carsono311 I think the specialist have been to specific classes, and kept the roles from all previous Battlefield games, Battlefield V did it right with how the specialist are I felt
- 4 years ago@Buzzfunk To you it may have been a 9/10 but to the rest of the people dumping on the game the attacks all stemmed from the announcement of Specialists replacing classes.
It's been a non stop train of hate ever since then.
Having played the game, pretty much everything that is in the infamous list of what's missing in the game hasn't bothered me much at all.
I miss the server browser, squad creation and my end of round stats, and that's pretty much it.
All I'm interested in now is seeing the game balanced and obviously fixing most of the minor bugs and glitches.- 4 years ago@Tank2042Man I never said it was a 9/10. Did you read my post? I said HAD they included what ive listed it COULD HAVE been a 9/10. Sheeesh
- 4 years ago@Buzzfunk Well said, I hate the cartoon look. I will say tho with classes you had a set of weapons, gadgets, tools, etc. You had to learn the class to excel at said class. You would either choose a different class depending on the situation or, eventually learn one, two or all classes. It's all just, too easy now.
Not that I was ever that good, my k/d was/is horrible thru all BF games since BFMC, lol. I play for fun and the challenge, which just isn't there. :`(

Doesn't 2042 have the exact same character animations like the tactical sprint and the crawling when you are down? If I'm not mistaken they look exactly the same as COD.- 4 years ago
even if they were the same animations, I wouldn't know because 2042 animations bug out or take forever to "complete". I hit a key on my keyboard for a corresponding action to take place, not to wait for my player model's actual body to animate. It's like the animations are server-side, not client-side.
Just another mechanic buffering the connection between you and the game.
Makes it feel like I'm sitting behind the player model, not actually in total control. Example would be if I'm defending a point and there's 10 dudes running up, in faster more competitive games I feel like I at least have a chance, whereas in 2042 I'll go throw a nade but my arm animation will bug out and since nades kind of just disappear mid-air sometimes and just launch to the destination with little notification I'm not sure if I threw it yet. I'll spam left mouse and then switch back to my weapon while crouching and my UI bugs the f out. Sometimes my gun won't even fire because the game hasn't caught up with my commands. It's just clunky and slow.

You might be close to the truth... Because that is EXACTLY what EA did.
EA hired Call Of Duty GM Byron Beede to lead the entire Battlefield Franchise.
Beede reports now today to Respawn's Vince Zampella who recently added the head of DICE LA to his list of roles, the studio responsible for developing the Battlefield series. Beede occupy the same role for his work on Battlefield as the one he had working on Call of Duty and has also been named SVP at EA. While he will undoubtedly be helping with everything pertaining to Battlefield, it's Beede's work launching live service games that may well have landed him the job. (so now you have a clue where BF might be going, because that is the end of the rainbow that EA are desperate to chase...)
- 4 years ago@mrwhiteshark While I'm a DIEHARD BF fan, I used to play every COD campaign. Looked good, was fun but I always hated the multi-player.
But, I haven't played in years as the last few releases have just been crap.
Why are FPS just garbage the last... several years?
We need OLD BLOOD devs on Battlefield! - 4 years ago
They did mention how they had the Apex team Respawn work on the game also. Which they did Cod 4 Modern warfare and Modern warfare 2? So that can definitely explain this, the game definitely doesn't feel like a Battlefield game at all honestly
