- @cso7777 You are saying "vehicles" as in plural and the use of a broad stroke for all. We are talking about the splash damage of the tank, just one vehicle. This is something I see constantly on this forum is the refusal to look at things on an individual bases and be lazy and just say "well all vehicles are crushing us!" when it's not the case.
If you're having constant run-in's with aircraft, or bolte's or etc. specify that, otherwise you'll be brushed off as someone who is trying to solo an armored vehicle with a knife, and complaining that you dont do damage.
The game is not "unplayable" for infantry, the highlights usually prove your observation wrong. And with the amount of verticality and freedom of movement in general, you may want to refine your statement to something that is more clear instead of trying to peg all vehicles as "crushing". This does not help anyones issue or gripe, besides trying to fan the dead flame, which is infantry players complaining about a combined arms game despite having a spawn system which allows for near unlimited adaptation if your entire squad is together and not wiped. A tank can fire it's main gun every 4.5-5 seconds (not aprox.), ontop of dealing with the quick overheat of its coax, the weapons stations also overheat, are clunky and are widely inaccurate if the tank is mobile. While I do agree the maps are rather open in some places, the lack of splash damage simply means you want easy risk free kills against ground targets in this case. This gripe to me, sounds more like a " I couldn't 1v1 -insert w/e here- so all vehicles are broken plz nerf and buff me instead"
This is not constructive, or good for gameplay, the video is clear enough to show there is an issue. Infantry have plenty of tools to deal with vehicles in general, and friendly vehicles to cover you (or at least they should), the game is hardly unplayable for infantry, you are simply asking for no pressure and no risks but want to be rewarded. - @Anti-Tank-Killer Well said.
- BFB-Praetorian4 years agoSeasoned Veteran@Tank2042Man The splash damage is fine. I've had my entire squad taken out through it instantly.
It also doesn't help that there's a glitch where you become stuck when taking splash damage rendering you immobile and continually taking damage.
Also you might need to take into account that the hit reg in this game is utterly borked, there are also multiple videos of people emptying entire magazines into people at point blank range with no damage.
Vehicles don't need a buff or a nerf, it's more that the amount of purely offensive vehicles need reducing and more transport vehicles group/solo need adding.
Conquest isn't so bad for vehicle spam but defending on breakthrough became quite tedious and boring for me after a while. Too many vehicle encounters not enough gun fights, it gets a bit dull. - GovntTookMyBaby4 years agoSeasoned Ace@BFB-Praetorian I agree with the hit reg probly the culprit. seems like, for me anyway, that its even worse in tanks. I mean ive shot guys with the machine gun until the thing overheats, and not one hit marker, shot helos see an explosion and yet nothing lol. other times you can shoot at the feet of a guy, they die and get blasted into the air 50 meters....its just so random.
"I agree with the hit reg probly the culprit."
This is where I feel is where the problem exists. The lack of consistent hit registry makes for an unpredictable encounter. I've seen people complain about Dozer's shield and let me tell ya, as someone has spent most of their time with Dozer, that shield is anything but consistent with blocking damage. I've blocked infantry and small arms fire, rockets, grenades, mini guns, HMGs, and sniper rounds. But I have also NOT blocked the same damage. People have shot through my shield with SMGs, ARs, LMGs, pistols, DMRs, and snipers. And many times right through the shield window. I've been headshot through the glass by all of the listed above. Yes, before anyone starts, you can shoot his feet I get it and yes I have been shot to death by my toes.
So yes, I feel the hit registry is so bad, along with poor server performance or tick rate, the experience just doesn't make sense any more. Just yesterday I was killed by someone firing a sniper rifle through the hull of the ships on Discarded. Yeah, through the hulls, ya know, no line-of-sight. Either there was a major delay in hit-reg and the server decided to kill me or something else is going on that we are not aware of. I have also been shot in the face by a sniper and saw my own blood splatter only to take no damage. I have also shot people in the face using a 10x scope only to see sparks fly off of their face, surprise them, they look at me, then hide. Frustrating for sure. I've also sent M5 rockets through tanks, boltes, transports, and heli's only to pass through, or hit with a shower of sparks only to be dusted off.
I've also shot at countless spawn beacons only for the first hit to register and then the rest are dusted.
Back in BF4 I read how a server's tick rate works. In a nutshell whatever you see on your screen is rendered and the tick rate applied to whatever is moving on your screen. If it is behind you or out of view, lower priority and not rendered, just tracked through network or "netcode." When you aim at something, the server's tick rate and performance is prioritized at a higher rate so you can hit what you're aiming at. The client side and the server side are more closely synced. In this case, 2042's example of the server's tick rate can be seen clearly by watching Anghel's supply drop animation. If you're playing Anghel, this doesn't apply as the server prioritizes it differently for you. However, if you see another player, enemy or team mate, call in a supply drop and it looks like it is stair-stepping down... that's a low tick rate. This is more obvious on 128 player games. Aim at it and I bet it's descent begins to look like something you would expect, smoother. As a sniper I have used the resupply crates to identify troop movement or an entrenched Anghel. From a distance the resupply crate always stair-steps down until I aim at it or the Anghel calling it in.
edit: typo

@Anti-Tank-KillerOn Xbox One it's so easy to record what just happened. It gives you the choice to record from 15 seconds to 5 minutes.
Great feature I've only recently discovered I can do.Same on Ps5 (and ps4) you can save a clip of up to an hour by clicking the record button on the controller. You can even do it after the fact. Like if something happened 50 minuts ago, you can still press the button and save the last hour of gameplay.
Its actually a pretty cool feature. I don't really use it, but its pretty cool that you don't have to already be recording if something cool/funny happens- @BFB-Praetorian I'm going to ask this, since it seems no one else has thought to do so yet. Are you sure your squad got taken out by 1 tank shell? Or multiple members of your squad at once? If they did, was it the HEAT cannon/shell? I'm about 100 kills for both tanks away from my T2 badge, and out of all the kills and interactions I've ever had with infantry stacked ontop of each other or cramped into a container, it would kill 1, damage the other and would always need a machinegun follow up, which if you didn't know, the ploom of the impact kicks up dirt and smoke which also blocks line of sight.
From what I've experienced, it seems the splash damage is off, if you hit a wall an infantrymen is standing beside(like one of the shots shown in the video), and you hit behind them and triggers either no damage or something small like 5%.
I can't speak about that bug you mentioned but that sounds simply awful, and I'm sorry folks even have to deal with garbage like that. Here's to hoping THAT at least gets fixed, because that is not cool. Is there any lead to what causes it? What weapons systems, etc? - UP_Hawxxeye4 years agoLegend
Somehow the MBTs need to become better at fighting and surviving at close range and worse at long range. Currently the game encourages the worst MBT playstyle
Just because the Nightbird and the attack heli are over the top, does not mean that every other vehicle is in an OP state. Currently between its own lack of performance, the abundance of M5 Recoiless, the long throw C5, the C5 drones and the AGM jets, the MBT is in a really bad place
- @Tank2042Man use the heat shells for infantry. They are much better. Same explosion, but the splash damage actually works. lol
- UP_Hawxxeye4 years agoLegend@wesleysnyper Unless the other team is unable to have any armored vehicles, it is not worth using the heat shells.
We cannot simply swap between shell types in play like we can with the soldier ammo types
