It's not more flexible, as the gadgets are restricted. As I said, before, Assault (why is Mackay assault anyway and not recon?? Isn't the ability to get to high vantage points perfect for recon?) can't carry ammo crates or proximity sensors, which is utterly rtdd, because why wouldn't they be able to have that? It's a lot more restricted than it was before, giving you less freedom and thus ruining the game for some of us. I don't like restrictions being imposed on a game that was fun when they first released it. Actually, it was almost perfect, when it came out.

Yes, some of the Specialists don't fit neatly into a traditional class, square peg round hole problem.
The restrictions are just a specific Specialist gadget and trait can't have specific gadgets. That's it, that is the restriction.
I was not a fan of them going backwards and wasting dev time on things other than performance and new content. However, I understand why they did it.
If they didn't make this change now, and the next title reintroduced classes, that title would get as much of a bad reception as this title did. So to condition the player base and even the media, they brought classes back so the next title will be more well received as Back to Battlefield.

Exactly, and that's what's ruining the game for me Mackay was the perfect sniper for me with the right gadgets, take an ammo crate with you, go to a vantage point, spot for the team and pick off other snipers. Now I can choose between grenades that are useless to me, as I'm far away from the hot combat zones and other useless stuff. And if they're afraid going back to classes will get them a bad rep, then why do it?
They could've introduced this in a specific game mode for those who like it, but they shouldn't force that garbage on everybody. - doubleome3 years agoSeasoned Ace
What's with so many people just wanting to delete vehicles the second they get in their atmosphere? It's a vehicle they shouldn't just be able to be dealt with like you do infantry vs infantry. That's a big factor, if a particular vehicle is dominating an area you either equip yourself to deal with it, take a counter vehicle, just go somewhere else and give up that area or ask chat for people to deal with it. You can't simply have it all whenever you want or need it.
Said it many times, the Battlefield experience has always been that, never fully equiped to deal with any and all situations at hand. You gotta adapt and there are plenty of the tools in the game to do this.
Battlefield was hijacked with 2042 and it feels like it's finally being taken back to what made the franchise what it is today. Hijackers had their fun the past 1,5 year now it's time for to those that wanted this from the start.

all you are going to get is many of the players who liked how things were will quit. the people who hated specialists and complained for classes (i say people not players because a lot of the people complaining were self admittedly not even playing) won't come back and stay because the specialists are still here. all they get is a half baked specialist system with a horrid loadout mechanic and remapped controls

Where have you been all these year, skipping Battlefield 1 and V altogether?
You may argue that this is the "true battlefield experience", but let's not forget what made this franchise soar at its pinnacle, yes it's Battlefied 1 which hated by most of die hard fans.
I liked it very much, enjoying 2k hrs in it as a matter of fact.
Just beg a question, why reinvent 2042 wheel with tire from BF 4 which has only 15mil copies sold, not from BF 1 25mil copies?

@r1zky24 I never got BF1 or BF5 until they were like 5 euro's or free, didn't really enjoy them, guess it was too much of a change dunno can't really remember why I didn't. Played BFV a lot towards to end and some Battlefield 1 basically back and forth. The atmosphere in Battlefield 1 was just amazing but just like Star Wars that atmosphere wears of when it's picked over the sake of the gameplay imo.
Battlefield 4 didn't enjoy as much as titles before yet spend more hours inside that game then any other Battlefield to date. Also don't forget since Battlefield 4 gaming in general has become more and more popular and accesible, so those numbers do not tell the whole story.
What's that about taking a wheel from BF4? BF1 and BFV had classes just the same right?
Think the only reason many mention BF4 is because it was the previous Battlefield title in a modern setting.

but this game is not started like former BF games, it evolved into this after a long time later. most people chose an operator and spent hours and hours with it but now a lot of tools have been taken away from those operators.
