@flcrmThat's interesting, Specialists a step forward and classes a step back. I wonder what could have made BF the most successful FPS franchise in video game history? How long have you been playing BF? When DICE/EA first came out with this game they could have called it something else because it wasn't BF. It was just some quasi-military FPS. Now it is getting a little closer to its roots but it still has a way to go.
@DaveTheBrave_USAI started with BF3. Your reasoning is abstract. In nature, everything grows away from the roots, not towards the roots. Connection with the roots is necessary, but to stay at the level of the roots or return to the roots is not progress, but degradation, step back.

I didn't study botany. I've been in BF since it very first started with the free demo of BF 1942 Operation Battle Axe. The first modern BF with rankings, squads, orders and unlocks was BF 2. But it has always retained soldier classes. Another thing opposing armies have in any military conflict are uniforms to tell them apart. There are no uniforms in this game. All the specialists look the same and can pick from any dress skin on both sides. Up to now BF has always had uniforms. This is just a homogenized blend with no contrast.
So this game was a total failure and complete disaster when it was released and it needed a deep overhaul because this apple didn't fall from the BF tree. It fell from a completely different tree and when players first bit into this apple they discovered that it had no taste and so they left the game and a lot of servers in the evening were covered by bots. So getting back to the roots that grew the BF tree is important. This game was a disgrace in the beginning. Now it is less of one. This game will never be perfect because it wasn't designed that way and they are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. But EA/DICE seem to be trying because they are trying to recoup their losses and make things right for their players.
