Was 2042 your first Battlefield game?
If that is the case, then I can understand your frustration for the classes.
But from the PoV of those who have associated some gameplay features as part of the Battlefield brand, this is a (very late) attempt to course correct.
What this update has shown me is that Classes and Specialists don't mix. Simple as that.
It feels very forced and, after a year of loadout freedom, feels very restrictive. Of all the things the community has been crying out for, why did DICE prioritise this?
1) Server Browser
2) Persistent Servers with full rotation of maps, keeping players, squads and teams together over multiple rounds
3) Squad management tools and the ability for more than 4 friends to join a game
How many hundreds and hundreds of posts are there asking for these three fundamental BF game mechanics to be returned to the game? And instead we get an update that messes up a map, messes up controls, messes up loadouts and leaves players feeling like the last year of gaming has been for nothing.
DICE seem unable to stop themselves screwing this game up, over and over and over again. I can honestly say, since this game first launched, this is the closest I've come to calling it a day. I'll keep playing, and I'm sure I'll get used to the changes, but Christ, can DICE either add what we've been begging for since launch or just admit that they can't, or don't want to.
