Dice probably thinks that new players are let down by the scoreboard (and perhaps some are).
But I personally think that new players have a hard time because BF is very different to other FPS-games. The big maps, large player-count (with all kinds of weapons/gadgets) and having vehicles (some very OP as well) is what makes BF hard for new players, much more than being at the bottom of the scoreboard. If you get destroyed over and over, you get frustrated, the scoreboard is just giving you the 'statistics' of your 'performance' in the game.
Personally the scoreboard has been a tool for me to get better at playing the game. If I constantly have a very low score or a very low KD, then I'm doing things "wrong" and I know I can improve my skills and my playstyle.
If some people are 'offended' by the scoreboard, Dice could make an option for disabling it in the UI."
@cso7777I agree. From my own experience everything you say is spot on. It is disheartening to get pummelled over and over again but when you see your name moving up it keeps you going and you can see you are improving. I'd just like to add that it encourages objective play too. We've all had great score games with not mega kills through team score/objective points.
