The Portal will cause havoc if each server will have its own class configuration

Portal shows you that DICE understood the sandboxy experience of playing all out war. But I think throwing the community into that sea of possibilities without a baseline entails a slow and frustrating learning curve.

We just need the devs experience and knowledge in putting standard settings for mainstream elements and modes such as classes and HC mode.

i saw the portal trailer while writing this, I am so f@!*ing hooked.

but still! The devs need to see the effect of the learning curve on the general fan base that won’t be designing hardcore modes and class based servers

  • @GrizzGolfNo, Portal games are basically spin up and spin down virtual servers, once the match is over the server shuts down. Kinda odd but that's how it goes it seems. Though from what I remember DICE will pick and choose some Portal servers to be curated into something more permanent. Basically the best, most populated servers. So for Portal there won't be 24/7 servers for a long time is my guess.

@940cb462ddf1f98672a417ca3f308bf0 The server will only spin down when empty, if you get a 24/7 server right it should stay up for days..

What DICE have done with portal is give those who think they can do better than DICE a toolkit to prove it. It's going to be chaos for the first few months as every self indulgent server setup is put up and it's going to completely shatter the community to lots of tiny servers. But hey the haters will still call it not enough and keep playing BF4 and the rest of us will settle down to some sort of compromise with the servers set up by local clans and enjoy another few years of good gaming.
