BF3/4 had a choice of countermeasures.
Either flares that stop heat seeking missiles but does not break missile lock on process. (so if someone flares before the missile was fired, they were boned)
Or ECM that theoretically only affected lock on and laser. (sadly it sometimes also stopped incoming missiles)
