The Question of Aim Assist
Okay, I'm finally putting this here, because I am really, really at a loss. How powerful is the console aim assist? From my POV, it might as well be a legalised aimbot. Currently, I have to resort...
@TwentyValve Yeah, I see you're devolving into the 'git gud' routine I see trolls ingame use when you point out someone is blatantly illegitimate. Would you like to try 'mad cos bad' as well? I mean its all the same copy paste responses trying to cover up the blatant problems people are experiencing. Clearly its just a made up issue, that's why I'm the only person mentioning it, right? Can't possibly be something amiss when someone runs around on foot and beats out vehicles with their score, in five consecutive matches, who tanks damage and does 90 and 180 degree spins that result in immediate headshots. Nah, no issue at all. All made up.
Anyone else notice weapon damage is atrocious this past week or so? M5A3, AK-12, SFAR, all taking an absolute age to kill anyone. Full mags per player, sometimes that's not even enough. Meanwhile, as always, console bots just blowing your head off with one shot. Also, one shot kills through dense smoke where you are literally not visible, and neither are they, but they'll hit you perfectly.
To be honest with all the hit/reg, one shot kills, killed around corner issues it's impossible to make out what happening right now.
True story!

It was happening to me so many times yesterday I had to quit several servers to try and find one that was playable. ☹️
They are clearly doing something, and it is server to server. I don't know if it is some kind of SBMM by adding terrible lag comp to you, but this is ridiculous.
I am not the greatest, but I am a fairly decent player who is normally 2:1 or 3:1 in my kills to deaths. Not anymore. I am lucky to break 1:1. Nothing I hit dies (84 assists), yet, on foot, this player goes 15:1 (console) with over 100 kills and literally just has to press a button. He/She was basically wiping half of our team per engagement. I think I personally died to that player 10+ times. Everything is fine though because all the devs play on console.
In every engagement, every bullet fired against me, hits me when it is a console player (in damage log). The Headshot rate is also through the roof. If they are going to do aim assist, it shouldn't target the head.

@AdamonicWhy don't you just just plug in a controller on your pc if the K/D is so important to you and you believe that it's as effective as cheating?
I'm just showing the disparity. I'm not saying it's cheating, the devs tuned it like this.
Why would I want to play where the game aims for me, what is the point? Why even play?

1) The snap aim assist does not target the head. https://youtu.be/k49HDvF7v9o/t=30
2) Most experienced console players turn aim assist snap off. It's more trouble than it's worth.

There has to be something else going on. Level 4's and 7's unstoppable, yet I can't even get one kill but 18 assists? I am still 1st on the server in score (fake score), but I cannot kill anyone.
I unload entire clips at point-blank range, they go to about 25%, then whip around and one-shot me. For some odd reason, even if the server is 60/40 console, 95% of my deaths are console and headshots are 75% of the time. That is just too high.
There has to be something going on with crossplay then, if it is not related to aim assist. Again, if you got it use it, not the player's fault. The Devs can see the numbers.
For Console players, do you actually hit players without killing them? Since the last update, I rarely get hit and not killed by a console player. It is normally 4-5 shots, all register on the damage log instantly and I die.
@AngrySquid270 thanks. That first video makes it seem fairly powerful and that's how it feels on the other end, it is sticky. Once I am in the field of view, I die.

@AdamonicThe point is that I don't think you understand how hard the game is playing on a controller on console.
I definitely don't have any aimbot like aim-assist as you describe it! Virtually all my friends on console have given up the game because they get instakilled by Pc-players. On the servers I play it's about 80-90% Pc-players. That's EU virtually every game mode.
I agree with you that there should be console crossplay only!
This right here. The aim bot doesn’t exist. For the most part, I stopped trying to hit people with the aircraft mini gun.
When I used to play with a controller on Xbox 360 I had a hard time feeling the aim assist. I then built a PC, but I wanted to keep playing with my friends while still practicing MnK. Playing shooters with a mouse was one of the main reasons for switching. I had the game sense, positioning, and timing down, but I always struggled with aim. Anyways, I bought a xim edge and immediately felt the assist. I actually felt dirty using it, so I turned it off.
I used to play a ton of Destiny 2. I’m a complete potato with a controller, but was a top 500 in almost every playlist with a mouse. Again for kicks, I plugged in my xim and it was ridiculous how much assist there was.
I have friends that have better thumb dexterity, precision, or whatever that allows them to be way more accurate then I can be when we’re both using controllers. My thumbs as an adult just don’t work for shooters. Now with a mouse, I tend to be the guy to beat amongst my friends.
If you have the right hand anatomy or whatever you’d call it, then a controller can be unfair. If you’re like me, then you probably won’t notice how strong it actually is. I believe anyone can find a mouse and keyboard that’ll fit their hands properly and engage muscles they can actually train and improve. A controller is more like it works or it doesn’t. You can’t improve the natural accuracy of your thumbs.
I'm on console and I turn the aim assist down somewhat because I find it can make it difficult to get headshots on its default setting.
In terms of whether its OP, I think the aim assist might be a bit intense (I mean I do turn it down), but its pretty much where it should be.
Normally I play xbox series x against ps5 / pc players and get mid-range to top third on the scoreboard.
Yesterday playing with friends against xbox one and ps4 I got first in every match and had a KD of 5:1 in some matches.
This has been a pretty consistent experience where if I play current gen / pc then I will do ok which is what I expect, whereas if I play against old gen I'm basically the terminator.
My point is the skill ceiling against PC players is a lot higher whether that be as a result of mouse and keyboard, or PC players just being better fps players.
To counter that you need an aim assist which is pretty forgiving.
I like where it is currently at -
console players who aren't as good, play with aim assist on full bore,
console players who are getting better turn down the aim assist
console players who can't get kills with the current forgiving aim assist need to get better
I haven't played BF on pc since BF4 but I would imagine a middle of the road player on pc would absolutely annihilate a console player if there was no handicap, or even if the handicap was slightly reduced.
I may install BF2042 on PC just to test this out.

@AdamonicWhen it comes to COD MW2 the aim-assist is rediculously strong. It's no meaning to be skillful and experienced. Fast reflexes is the only thing. Not a game for me!
I actually think we see things a bit same but from different sides. Input method should be priority one. I still feel that a high end PC and monitor has a slight advantage over Console and TV thou. I also feel that it's not only the input method that makes the difference between PC and console. Maybe it's also netcode or something?
I think that’s where some of the frustration is coming from regarding aim assist. MW2 is just following the trend. Before on PC when controllers were supported the mentality wasn’t that they were meant to compete with a mouse. It was simply an accessibility option. Now developers are trying to tune aim assist to be “fair”, which usually means too much assist. You can see the stats in games like Halo where the top players are almost exclusively using controllers and have far better accuracy statistics then the best MnK players.
The second point about having a high end PC and monitor being a slight advantage, it’s pretty minimal. Being able to consistently hit more shots without any misses is a much bigger advantage.
60hz is about 16ms between frames
120hz is about 8ms
The average gamer reaction is around 200+ ms
Using a gun with 700rpm is about a bullet every 11ms
The servers are running at 45hz 22ms
When manually aiming you’re more likely to miss a bullet here and there adjusting back onto target. If my PC stutters for whatever reason, that directly effects aim too. Not to mention visual clutter, which is another plus for assist.
I just don’t see why controllers NEED to compete with MnK on PC. I think that’s the wrong mentality from the start.
This game is not MW2 or Halo, this is BF2042, and aim assist does not work in most of the game situations, such as vehicle gunner or any medium or long range combat.
That's why console players are demanding for console only crossplay and mnk support for consoles since the beta. On PC you can choose both input methods, we are forced to play with the worst.
The "Other" game's AA is off the charts. I don't know why anyone would play a game like that, what's the point?
There is an insanely blatant console hacker in the matches tonight. Gets over 75 kills on foot in every round they play, and less than ten deaths. When they were on my team I followed after them, they were running twice as fast, running directly to people you couldn't see, and hitting everyone in the head. When they were on the enemy team, blatantly snaplocking, instakilling at range, eating entire magazines. They outpace vehicle players for kills.
Sounds realshitty. I don't suppose you took a screenshot of the person's ID and maybe a video as evidence did ya?
I am not 100 percent but isn't there a way of reporting such things?
@ace_wolf08 I've reported them. I didn't have the ability to film them. They're allegedly a 'competitive' player. I'd like to know how being a 'competitive' player makes your weapons do more damage, lets you run two times faster, and lets you locate every single person. Oh, and lets you tank half a magazine to the face.
Let's give us a "Crossplay - Console (PS+XBOX) Only" .
I believe that most of console players don't want to crossplay with PC Player.
