The Question of Aim Assist
Okay, I'm finally putting this here, because I am really, really at a loss. How powerful is the console aim assist? From my POV, it might as well be a legalised aimbot. Currently, I have to resort...
I play on series X in EU (don't think it makes a huge difference vs US) and if I see a console player in the EOR screen it's almost always a falk for revives or a casper for assists or anything support/team related. Top kills in EOR ? 95% of the time, if not more, it's a PC player. Yes there are some console players which are very good, and if they are still there it's certainly because a good portion of them is in this category (I'm clearly not one of them), and they play with a controller (please stop with the Cronus non-sense, it's a niche product, it's just the equivalent of the "PC cheater" boogeyman but for console). But just some simple statistics should be enough to understand that 20% of the players in a match (that's the average of console players in a crossplay lobby) can't do a crazy % of the other 80% deaths. Most of the time top console players in a game are pilots or tank drivers, simply because mouse or controller doesn't make a difference for vehicles.
The problem isn't that a god tier controller player is always going to roll over even the best m&k player, or that a PC pro gamer will align HS after HS 500m away from his target. The problem is that for most of the average console players they see that m&k players, even the average ones not on the top of the leaderboard, are able to ADAD, or control recoil, or aim while sliding/jumping in a much easier way than any average controller player is able to do. Aim assist is just a small band-aid for console players, not made to give a magical aim that can pinpoint anyone even blind folded, but just give you a tiny chance of fighting back. For BF2042, the problem is that it wasn't even a band aid for the first few months because aim assist was, at best, non-existent. Since 2.1 it became a bit better, but still far away from other games (for the best or the worst, depends on what end of the stick you are).
Also just think about that : if aim assist was so beneficial, why would any console player would like to have console crossplay only lobbies while it's so fun to shoot with their magical aim assist and head tracking bullets the 80% of PC players in a crossplay lobby...
Tried turning crossplay off. Apparently it sticks again, except nobody else is switching it off, so we're stuck with unbalanced games. Console players drag down the entire play of the server and make the experience utterly terrible, boring, and frustrating to play. I'm tired of some rank 10 Xbox player blowing my head off with a DM7 instantly in the briefest moment.
This is why it was so useful to have rentable persistent servers that we could administrate ourselves. V was rampant with hackers and zero effort was made to manage it by Dice or EA, zero. In BF4 ATF Clan had multiple servers and admins on to boot the hacker sans ban them from the servers. We used Procon tools and life was good. Players could even message an admin and somebody would log in and give the boot after shadowing. If the game devs can’t stop it at least the players and admins could. I doubt we’ll ever see those days again.

@ATFGunrWell that doesnt really count lol.. ya I'm aware of that hardware dongle. Wasnt thrilled when I heard about it. One of the reason I switched to console was do to the massive issues with hacking. It just takes one on a server to just ruin it for all.

100% bubba, I remember playing on the "ATF Hump 'em and Dump 'em" servers, good times!
I think when I was with the Locked n' Loaded clan we even competed a few times with you guys back when that was a thing.
Rank 8 on Xbox blows my head off instantly 4 times. One time he's shooting me before I've even come into view. Clearly locked on. Fourth time I have him and he literally does a 90 degree snap lock turn to shoot me before I can pull the trigger. This is beyond a joke, DICE. Utterly beyond a joke. I should not be losing time and time again to a player who has just started the game and has a bare bones weapon, like wth?

Back in the good old days, It's sad to see how far we have moved away from the community spirit we enjoyed back then. ☹️
So throughout that round I had my head blown off by 6 different Xbox players, all under rank 15, all at close range. Instant headshot every time. Also, console snipers instantly blowing your head off while being riddled with automatic fire. Yay for aim assist.to save the day
Edit: After additional matches, average rank of the player killing me was...15. All XBox, all headshots. Any weapon, any range.
@xXGugusseXx @TwentyValve I don't currently have the means to record.
First match of the day. 14 deaths. Two of them to PC players. 12 deaths, 9 of them headshots, carried out by Xbox players. One was a rank S259 who was firing at someone else in a completely different direction, sighted on them. They snapped to me and took my head off instantly with the AC-42. A pair of players with similar tags, both on Xbox, ranked 12 and 1 respectively, were up at the top. On our team we had a rank 7 topping the team with 55 kills and 20 deaths. Enemy team, all five top positions were Xbox players.
I'll just leave this here.
@Moab23every windows 10 PC is able to record gameplay.

Don't forget to turn on in game the network graph.
@HARLEMnycity Sure. I've never done a 180 in a split second. Seen plenty of dodgy players do it, so maybe you're watching dodgy players?
In that match there I was leading with kills, mowing down a good few players who, as it turned out, were PC players. Yet the second I encounter some console players, averaging rank 8, I'm dead. Not only are they tanking the damage from my M60 to twice the amount it took to kill the PC guys, they're killing much quicker too. Oh yeah, and two of them instantly zapped me through my ballistic shield, despite one of them being below the level to fire at me, and one level. Curious how their shots are all hits to the head.
IDEM first time i have a issue with consol player. I think it's a BAD NETCODE + STRIKE PACK problem !
They will never FIX IT.
Boom instantly killed ! Have fun !
Had a match there that seemed to be only PC players (crossplay off function actually worked?). Gameplay was far, far better. Still a bunch of questionable players, including one low ranker who was clearly cheating and bailed out of the match part way through before I could screen cap the name for a report. But overall game was much more back and forth, felt far less one-sided in fights.
EDIT: Multiple matches later, no console players encountered. Result? KDR plays more like previous games. Always in the top five. Games feel considerably more balanced. Only a handful of suspect players around ranks 14 to 16 as frequently occurs lately. Nowhere near the degree of frustration from general combat as encountered in matches with console players. The M16, which has been terrible previously, was superb in these games. In addition to being laser-beamed, looks like console matches negatively affect the gameplay as a whole as normally, next to a full mag would be needed on one player. Not the case this time.
@TwentyValve Oh, get the hell out. Bloody trolls.
@TwentyValve Boo hoo.
Don't like what I'm telling you, want to call me a liar? Go ahead. Now go away and bother someone else.
