The tornado was a huge waste of time. Why didn’t they abandon it?

It's pretty cool and match changing when it works (ie, it sticks to the sides and doesn't just immediately plow through the center of the combat zone). The weather effects are neat and it clears the skies of pesky flyboys too which is a bonus.
