I completely agree. The so called "scope glint" that seems more like 1000 lumen flashlight completely undermines the whole point of sniping. How can you provide much long range support when all enemies in the general direction that you're aiming at instantly know that they're being targeted and will take countermeasures even before an actual shot has been fired by the sniper? The glint is so extremely obvious that it turns you into a bullet magnet, and the fact that non-sniper class weapons are far too effective way beyond their intended range makes it even more difficult to win using sniper rifles with a high power scope.
Many say that glint is needed for sniper balance, but pre-BF3 games did not have it, so they're basically saying that all pre-BF3 games had OP snipers, which is nonsense of course.
I know 100% sure that this stupid hand-holding mechanic was put in place to appeal to the average full-auto spray&pray run&gun player that doesn't want to be bothered with thinking ahead a bit when moving around.
If they wanted to help players spot snipers, then they could've used far better ways to do that without completely ruining the whole point of sniping. Like a smoke trail that can give a clue from where the shot came from, or a smoke puff appearing shortly froms the sniper's exact position, or a bigger brighter bullet tracer for sniper rifle shots. All of those things would be better as it doesn't instantly compromise a sniper's position before he has even fired a shot.
