Lol, when DICE announced bots in human vs human mode I immediately thought of Unreal Tournament too. I hated bot servers in that game... and in all human vs human game modes.
- @Authurie What if I told you we had bots in multiplayer way back in Refractor era Battlefield at the beginning of the franchise in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 2142? So bots are not "un-Battlefield" they just haven't made an appearance in recent Battlefield titles.

Bots in an online multiplayer game with human players and 20+ specialists are a terrible idea.

That's great. I agree, but it's an biased opinion. Haha. Well, i wouldn't miss them for sure 😉 but i can still live with them as well.
Greets,

- @ragnarok013 What if I told you those bots were not included in any online battlefield game.
Battlefield has never had bots in online multiplayer.

Battlefield has never had bots in online multiplayer.@zakrocz just looked back at my old files...you're right that was an old BF2 LAN mod (we did have a lot of freedom back in the Refractor era). We had Single Player bots from 1942-2142 (like we can make in Portal), COOP bots in BC2 Onslaught Mode, BF3 COOP, and BF5 Coop modes.

Bots are a very poor decision in my opinion in modern first person video games. Video games for the majority (non-content creators) are for entertainment purposes, and I don't know a ton of people who want to shoot bots over real players. It's one of the reasons why single player titles are in decline.
If someone does something spectacular, but then noticed it was a bot, that can ruin the core experience forever with that title, and it can lower retention. The player could second guess everything they do, to the point where they start to think everyone is a bot, then get killed by a real player just drives them to just leave the game altogether.
Bots are a fun concept to learn the basic skills with a new title, but never a good idea to mix them into the core experience like what DICE has done. Someone will argue it works for older titles in series like Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142, but honestly how many people actually play those titles today.
I wouldn't be surprised if at some point Battlefield 2042 gets the ability to disable bots. Also, EA should stop calling them A.I. because they're not. A.I. would be able to write it's own code, these bots can't do that.
@ragnarok013
It's not an agreement about what worked for titles in the past, but what will work today in video game entertainment. In my mind it's real players vs other real players.
