Thoughts on liquidators event (from community)

I was just curious as to what do people think about Tactical conquest and liquidators cosmetics. I know many people having been bashing it that's not what this topic is for so no negativity please.

Me personally, I do like Tactical conquest. It depends on the map though. It's fun but I wish all the info in the top right corner wasn't there it's annoying and takes away from the immersion. I know what I'm playing I don't need it glued to my screen. Besides that it's fun.

For the first time ever iv been tempted to actually purchase a skin (normally I would never spend money on cosmetics they don't interest me) but that new skin for the DM7 "severed"* I believe it's called. I really like it and how it changes the 3.5x scope it's cool. Like the new free AK24 skin as well with the cool xdr holo (normally I avoid that sight because it adds tint to the lens).

So how do others feel about it just curious. I'm excited for the orbital rework coming soon.

  • @SCUBASTEVE120 I don't like it at all, reminds me to much of cod, but especially the bad parts.
-Not enough players (while it should be tactical, you realize quickly the maps are not really made for this size)
-It's not tactical to camp the spot and just wait for enemies to come
-People spawn literally next to you or behind you
  • I'm sure this is the same as many others, but this is my 2p.

As someone who loved Squad DM, I really like how audio cues are really important. Footsteps, predicting paths, pre-firing corners etc.  I also really like how invaluable spawn beacons become. Tactically very fun.

I find the incentives for squad play still as poor as ever, and your group often does not stick together. There aren't enough lanes for flanking after being spawn trapped. locking flag spawns isn't a strong enough handicap, it needs to be prevent squad and beacon spawns too. The key UI being in the top right is too subtle for communicating critical changes like spawn locking. This is a broader problem for any Portal mode, and messaging needs to have more options for obviousness.

I like the cosmetics for an additional incentive to play a mode, but I personally don't like the aesthetic. I also find the lore about the event too weak. Either don't bother explaining it, or go further and tie it into an ongoing narrative.

Lastly, I do like the variation. This feels like a new spin on portal mode rotations, and I'd like to see more of these events. I've played it enough to unlock all the available things.

  • @SCUBASTEVE120 I hope they make it stay. My friends and i are bored with the normal conquest. Or bring back domination. Or let us place flags within portal and let us make are own donination

@jurozYou are bored because we are being drip fed new content. This 'Event' was something that could have been made in Portal by anyone. The only difference was it had hyped marketing video and another reason to sell skins and cosmetics.

I enjoyed it because it was small scale, like Squad Conquest (BFV) and Domination (earlier BF games).  I don't really know why Hazard Zone hasn't been removed and replace with a mode like this.  Big all out combat is one thing, but smaller scale CQC is a lot of fun too.  I guess with semi-permanent servers in Portal these game modes may flourish there?

i didn't really enjoy it.  that's not a big surprise though because i was never a domination fan either.  i did it for the unlocks in the first week and then moved back to breakthrough

@Ironhead841hard to believe it has been anything but a bust for everyone. It was basically a Featured Experience, which they have already had, with the majority of the new content behind the paywall. The assignment for the 4 earnable items was lazy, earn X amount of badges in Tactical Conquest. That is going to keep people coming back? They could've easily just said play this mode for X amount of hours or earn X amount of XP; it is basically the same thing and not interesting in the least bit.

It looks like what is left of the player base didn't really care for it. Somehow, the player count has dropped and is now lower than the week prior to the event. We are slowing bleeding back down to late Season 1 numbers where hardly anyone is playing. My first round is always Defender on BT in progress, normally near end of the match. I then get thrown into an empty lobby and have to wait for players again? It still makes no sense to me.

    My fellow steam stat watcher!

Yes I've been monitoring the steam stats and indeed the Tactical Conquest mode did not bring more players back and it's even less this week, currently sitting at 3 low and 5 high.

Like you say, it's heading back to pre season 1.

At this rate, the idea that this game gets any meaningful support post season 4 is looking low.

  • Thanks for the constructive conversation that has been going on.

Shared it with the team earlier on it.
