Unbalanced Cross play?

Dice, come on! I'm all for cross play in battlefield and fps games on a whole! But PC against console in bf2042 Really?.. There's only one winner here, for example keyboard and mouse against controller = PC win , 144fps or more on some rigs against 60fps on console =PC win! Do you see where I'm going? This is making servers vastly unbalanced! I m sick of dying 2 seconds after spawning in and being shot by a pc player! It's not fun and I imagine I'm not alone thinking this! Face to face combat against pc player, pc player wins everytime! My question is. Dice for the love of god can you please create cross play servers for Xbox and playstation ONLY?

PS5 and Xbox should have crossplay and pc players play on their own. That way it stays fair

I don't understand why Pc-players don't plug a controller in their PCs and try how "easy" it is, instead of claiming this and that. Then come back with stats that say that your K/D, amount of kills etc has gone up with 50% or whatever you think the difference is.

One of the reasons I’m on PC is because I prefer to player shooters with a MnK. I can’t stand using a controller. If your preference is using a controller, you’ll inherently be much better with it.

I can, and have, plugged in a controller to see what it’s like. It does track really well up close. I’m a complete potato with a controller and I wasn’t missing with SMG’s up close. For a fair comparison I could use a XIM device to use MnK and get aim assist, because someone that has good thumb dexterity has a big advantage with a controller.

You either have accurate thumbs or you don’t. There’s nothing you can do to improve that in the way you can with a mouse. I can buy a mouse that’ll fit my hand and is comfortable for me to use. You’ll also engage a lot more muscles that can improve your accuracy. Controllers don’t work for everyone while MnK can.

There’s also the visual clutter, light smoke, and foliage that the assist will ignore and track enemies through. It follows hit boxes and not character models, if the network is off a little it can be hard to find hit boxes with a mouse. While using a mouse any stuttering will throw my aim off as well. Then there’s the snap on target, which I would argue is the hardest part of aiming.

Aim assist has been getting turned up in all titles because of cross play and it’s frustrating. Controller players shouldn’t be able to compete with a mouse, but now it’s flipped to where it’s harder to be consistent with MnK.

The debate will always be that controllers NEED aim assist to be viable to compete with a mouse, but how much assist should they be getting? I never see any statistics showing how it’s tuned.

A CoD developer recently commented on their own internal statistics for aim assist. Here's what he said

"When we did the last game, one of our biggest concerns at that time was players on mouse and keyboard versus players using controllers. Finding the balance on that. It’s an interesting thing, because I wish it was a linear spectrum. You can see that a very highly skilled player on mouse and keyboard is fantastic compared to controller. Everybody else on a mouse and keyboard seems to be at a disadvantage statistically, is what we see."

@246stNSW Ping doesn’t matter as much as it used to, or should, because of Match Making. It mixes players across without showing us all of the ping. You may have 37 (usually have 27), but the other player could have 150 and the game compensates for that. High ping is actually rewarded in this game. So you think you’re shooting early, but he’s getting it late so can spin and shoot you. MM may even be the bigger issue than Aim Assist. A lot of consoles use wifi not a wired connection (like in my house, our PS is wifi, my PC is network cable), so the at could be a contributing factor as well. We tend to blame each other (PC and Console) but I always try and bring it back to Dice.

Thanks for sharing those links. I’ll check them out.

I don’t trust anything to do with COD though. They definitely manipulate the network to give certain players an advantage at certain times. Something is way off in COD games from my experience. I’ve found some articles on their business practices and definitely think they’re capable of being very shady.

A similar situation was with Halo Infinite. I really think the slower movement and higher aim assist killed it for MnK players, and didn’t give the game a chance.

I played the MW2 beta and noticed CoD's netcode gives the player running around corners a huge peeker's advantage. The meta in that game is jumping around corners so the person waiting on the other side aiming down their sights has no time to react.

I definitely noticed there's a lot of player movement desync in CoD's netcode.

Ah, that makes sense! I would say that I'm a pretty dynamic player. I'll defend a spot when it's needed, like in conquest, but I'll also get really aggressive and make a push through a choke point and hope for the best. I definitely like to control the pace if I can. That's probably why I wasn't doing so great last time I played a COD game. I didn't buy it, just played on my brothers account a little bit, but got annoyed pretty quickly. I'm just over shooters that have a very low TTK. Who see's who first and can hit a button play style isn't my thing. That's why I've always loved BF games so much. They've always rewarded good timing and positioning rather than just raw reflexes.

    Sorry for getting off topic.

  • 2 nights ago I got killed by PS5 person I was shooting through boxes on xbox the PS5 had no boxes ! So whats up with that . Maybe EA should separate all platforms . Or is it true PS5 players get an advantage ? I sure wasn't hallucinating . Please clarify .
