Can't wait for the March update and Summer for season 1!

UNKSO is seeing it through
If you play 2042 and you want a group to join that doesn't just rail about the game then feel free to hang out in our discord and see what you think- https://discord.gg/unkso.
We are playing all the time and honestly I love the feel of the game.
Here's my take, yes I know no one asked for it:
We had this release on Feb 1 and now the infamous and much-memed town hall during which failures were at least acknowledged. The combination of the two is not just words about what they'd "like to do" but also internal leadership discussion about actually doing it. Couched in very "corporate executive" type lingo and blaming boogeymen, but still the topic came up instead of getting quietly buried. So my level of trust in that Feb 1 release has only increased that it's more than EA scrambling to put something out to appease the masses.
Even Tom Henderson (who has not been shy about his criticism) closes his article with "Battlefield 2042 seems to be in good hands moving forwards."
At the developer level we have seen nothing but actual interest in making things better. Just a few days ago I was watching developer Alex-7 in the #battlefield-2042 text channel in the BF Discord interacting with folks on what interesting things could be added to weapons, balance, tweaks to attachables, etc. He is a weapons designer for 2042. That's as direct as it gets to interacting with the community and it's been a consistent factor the whole time. Before, during, and after November the developer engagement has been tangible. I feel we have the developers on the side of getting things done no matter how much noise I have to wade through out on reddit claiming otherwise.
Yes, content releases have been pushed. But I also think that we can't have it both ways:
1. Game released in November to widespread criticism that it should have been delayed
2. Content updates get delayed to widespread criticism that they should have been released soonerIf you take point #1 as a given by now (you know, because time travel) then #2 makes no sense. Either we let a team learn from mistakes or we choose the easy path of waving our hands no matter what they do. If we want quality content in both March and Summer I choose to give the benefit of the doubt to the developers that have been engaged with the community. I have never before seen updates rolled out so rapidly for several weeks after a game launch, so the acknowledgement of issues is there, the commitment to fixing open issues is there, and the overhaul in production leadership is there.
I can't speak to everyone's experience, I can only speak to my own. The patches released since the game launched have largely fixed the game-breaking or at least match-breaking bugs. Do I occasionally still feel an issue or two? Sure. But the issues now, for me, are mostly nuisances and I'm eager for more content more than anything else. Honestly if I thought it would make a difference to the ears hearing it, any time someone posts the question "hey is the game fixed yet?" I would already say yes, since December. When content drops, I will be saying yes.- 4 years ago
