Verdict after a year?

Well there's one easy verdict I can come to after 1 year.

A certain section of the community seems to be addicted to bashing the current battlefield game every chance they get.

If enough of them bash it they can literally kill off a game but if there's not enough of them then the game can survive.

However to negate this EA could go back to the premium business model.

That way it doesn't matter if the doom merchants attack the game and smear its reputation, which they have done twice in a row now, us battlefield fans will still get a longer lifecycle and more content.

@Tank2042Manyou are aware that fundamental technical issues in the game remain unfixed since launch...? or are you ignoring that entirely? and calling these fundamental issues out is not bashing its expecting a certain standard to be met by any product and if they fail they need to be reminded that this is part of a minimum bar to clear!

I enjoy the game. 

Map reworks are coming along nicely. Going from 64 to 128-player matches brought a lot of challenges for level designers. But they didn't give up on it and continued to develop maps after the launch. 3 maps have been reworked, and 2 more are on the way this season. New maps are great, to begin with.

Classes rework is also coming this season, so there will be a lot more classic BF balance.

I see console players posting mad footage of them wrecking everything and everyone on a controller. So maybe it's just a matter of good ol' "Git gud"?

I've been a fan and I mean a SUPERFAN of Battlefield since BF1942 and I don't think that's a fair assessment of a lot the criticism that has been directed at this game; many (myself included) have certain expectations when it comes to a Battlefield title.

Proper server browser, persistent servers, squad management just to name a few of the many things lacking in this game.

For better or worse the introduction of the specialist system with their "unique" abilities in this game is a radical departure from the core BF experience many expected and that has turned a lot of players off to it. Agree or disagree, it is what it is.

It was barely half-finished when released and add to that that a year later and it still has almost no content compared to prior BF titles, we're lacking in maps/weapons/vehicles and modes. We are basically at the point NOW where it should have been for launch. They are adding some new content and making improvements which I do appreciate, the new maps are nice, and the map reworks all look good and play better than the originals so we're making progress, I guess.

As to returning to the Premium model I am 100% behind that move although it doesn't seem to be the way game developers are headed.

The game is currently on its  pre release beta as far as its state is concerned.

It will "officially" release when they add the classes.

I hope that this will be a lesson for many BF players. The BF games now release about 1 year before they are ready. If ppl stop pre ordering, EA will stop rushing them

It has def improved. 

Still missing IMO:

- Server Browser

- Global Chat

- Squad Management

- Persistent servers

- More Game modes (like TDM - make it permanent)

- Better maps (Spearhead is the first map that feels like war to me)

- More weather chaos. This is supposed to be a climate change world? 

- Better Destruction

The list goes on and on....
