There are many instances that I face where the game fails to highlight whether a player is on my team or not. I'll start shooting and then I'll see the green header after a brief delay.
This happens mostly when someone is at a far distance, but should still be able to tell whether they are friendly or no.
Playing on PS5 I have similar problems; I've tried monkeying around with my TV and in-game settings but it never seems to work
What is your FoV setting?
Default is 55. Many people suggest 90, but I find this makes everything too small. Personally I run the minimum FoV, 50.
