@danbottomburpBF1 and 4 and no doubt 3 all have very detailed lighting and backgrounds that would cause enemies to blend in with the backgrounds. This is not a problem unique to 2042.
Without 3D spotting you will always have areas of the map where it's very hard to see non moving enemies.
You need to start using the 3D spot button.
If you can't see enemies out in the open then you have other issues with your setup.
