Wait, Battlefield 1942 maps?

Now this is something I'm glad I came across today:

  • Battle Of The Bulge (Battlefield 1942)
  • El Alamein (Battlefield 1942)
  • Arica Harbor (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)
  • Valparaiso  (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)
  • Caspian Border (Battlefield 3)
  • Noshahr Canals (Battlefield 3)

I can not wait to see what is in store for us regarding the classic maps, its too bad that ps4 and Xbox one players will apparently not be able to experience 128 player warfare.

It seems that Battlefield is going to be more than just a new feel with futuristic gameplay, but, will also be filled with nostalgia and memories. This is something extremely powerful for players and kudos to the developers for introducing this.

Apart from this, Is it true that we are going to be able to completely demolish entire cities?

  • Hello @QuvdReplicnt

EA/DICE didn't revealed Maps from Portal into the details but there is gonna be destruction for sure. I don't think you will be able to destroy the whole map, but new destruction will be implemented as BF2042 is made in new (Updated) Frostbite Engine.. 🙂

Also keep in mind that Ripple Effect will add more Maps, Vehicles, Weapons and more to the Portal Game Mode so there will be more content to play, which will be amazing.

  • @QuvdReplicntReferring to the first part of your topic, Portal has indeed piqued a lot of interest. It remains to be seen how revolutionary it will be, but it certainly has the potential to be huge.

To come back to your question, the quantitative and qualitative details of the destruction / destructible objects in Battlefield 2042 have not been officially revealed yet.

The EA Play 2020 Tech Demo showed one clip of a crumbling building, so they have been working on it.

    We will see soon™(I hope)!

  • @carsono311 Absolutely, I believe I saw that footage via a separate source. It looked absolutely incredible, but, initially I thought it was a game trailer style video and just hyping up the game release. I did not think it was showing gameplay at first so I'm glad you mentioned this. IF it is complete destruction on that level, I have no words to describe my excitement about it.

  • Yeah... I have mixed feelings about this.

I loved Battlefield 1942 and have very good memories about it, but the fact the old content is more appealing to me than the new content - the specialists, 2042 maps, gunplay and what not, tells me more and more that I've come to an end with my passion for the whole Battlefield series.

Maybe it's time I permanently move away from the series. We will see what 2042 and Portal will bring, I suppose.

@infantrypeasant Yeah, I of course am looking forward to it and will try it out, but I really believe it will not ring true with a lot of core fans here.

It will be those old games reskinned onto Battlefield 2042 inside a "remastered" map. While that could certainly be interesting, I am still skeptical.

All these were already announced at the BF2042 reveal of the Portal some months back.  That these maps from past games would be remastered for BF2942 and would be accessible through the BF2042 Portal.  And with the open option that EA would maybe consider adding more classic maps to this bundle as we would observe if being popular or not with the players.

Personally I think that I will spend the vast majority of my BF2042 gaming time on portal servers.  And most of these classic maps are like real BF love to me!  😍
