War Machine Kinda Sucks

Frankly, it's too hard, especially with randoms. This mode expects you to play in a very specific way. You need to rush the point, as a team, smoke, arm, then fend off the robots. That's IF you can get close enough to the point and your team has the ability to work together, which randoms just don't have. The maps are not very good for this mode. You need purposed built maps for a mode like this, if the enemies never stop spawning, or don't let up in the slightest. Open areas don't work here.

You need a better ping system for this type of PvE content. Look to games like Apex, they use a dial and you can communicate exclusively through that without using your voice. No one is using voice in this game, because the base game doesn't require it. So people are going to start using it just for one mode? That's a nope.

Friendly fire was not the move. Now I have to constantly watch for people jumping in front of me while firing, which is every average players absolute favorite move in the world to do. They LOVE jumping in front of me in the regular game, now they do it in this new mode as well. I also have to worry about being shot in the back because my teammate wants to shoot from the same exact square foot I'm standing on. Another terrible habit that most players have in 2042.

A couple good things from this update. The robots looks cool! Their movement and logic seems to be updated quite a bit, seems like something that's been getting developed for a little while now? Maybe its a placebo, but the AI seemed to be getting improvements over this past year.

I like that you can crawl to cover, which is helpful for this mode. However, why on Earth is it in Third Person?! Why is the camera positioned in a manner that I'm trying to look INSIDE my character? It should be First Person. The camera flipping around transitioning is unnecessary and disorientating for no reason.

I'm glad Dice is still working on the game, but unfortunately they don't get PvE. I want to punch a hole through the enemy, catch a break, arm, and then defend. You can't do that though. There is no break or reward for mowing down 20-30 bots in 10 seconds, which doesn't feel good at all to play. Sure it's hard, but is it challenging in a fun way? Not really. Just disappointed because it sounded fun when it was announced.

Another thing that amazes me in the Rush Override mode, with friendly fire on why would you equip your character with one of the droid skins you can earn via the BP?

I get it you want to look cool with your newly aquired skin, but looking like the horde of enemies in a mode with friendly fire on is not the smartest idea.

P.S. Friendly fire may unintentionally increase the number of reports.

SharpGoblinyou can do that in other modes, if you do it in the Rush Override mode I could shoot you on sight, as sometimes rendering in player names is just too slow for my gunslinger reflexes 😜

Agreed. It appears the only thing they've done is made mastery level bots programmed to shoot you in the back. The mode is disjointed and the maps don't have any leverage. It might work for testers at Dice who work and communicate together but it doesn't work for utter strangers and mixed ranks. A lot of players just barricade because there's too many bots and it doesn't progress the game to target points. Feels like the team is too small as well, compared to the enemy numbers. I think the win ratio is about 10%. It's an interesting idea but I've come to resent it. At this stage of 2042 I just want to burn through solo runs and clock new weapons. Maybe try putting war machine bots into solo modes because the regular soldiers are brainless.

  • The melee kills are utterly ridiculous now.

You cannot go near the bomb points without getting rubber banded back through smoke and getting knifed.

I ran up a ramp on dedacted into the room and the bot from the base of the ramp got me.

Getting knifed through walls etc and see them knife you from 1-2 meters away is not fun.

  • I can see why people may not like it but I still enjoy it - was even able to T1 a bunch of weapons/gear. I can confirm it's possible to win on all maps and really, you just need 1 person with a smoke launcher to get the job done.

Smoke is the most important but Dozer and closing doors/shutters makes a world of difference too

I sort of agree and disagree with a lot of your points. I actually like the third person view when down and crawling. "when it works properly" I'm not going to tell you how to play the game just a helpful hint. If my random team mates are useless and unhelpful I try to switch Boris and use the eod bot. It can get to most bombs from cover and as long as you pretty much leave the bot in front the mcom you can kill the enemies with it. Moving the eod around seems to get it destroyed quickly. Also throw the turret down and smoke. I do this to get the win bonus. I'm not interested in kd just winning.

I don't think it's a matter of agreeing or not, we just play the mode for different reasons. It's not satisfying game play for me to smoke an objective and push up slowly with a team, and that's the only way to play it. I want to kill stuff and clear a path. Like I said, I don't feel like I'm missing out, because in all honesty, there's nothing to it. It's a very simple game mode slapped together.

To be clear, whenever I rip on this stuff, I don't think it necessarily the devs fault, it takes talent and hard work to do anything in a game, for the most part, and they're probably a skeleton crew at this point. So it's more that management is the issue, I believe. I'm becoming bitter because games just don't feel like they're made by gamers for themselves, they feel like a product trying to just make money now.

The third person would be fine IF the camera didn't swing around when being resurrected, and if wasn't so zoomed up on the character model. The camera is positioned in a way that I'm trying to see my soldiers guts! Back it out a little, seesh. It really makes no big difference either way. Even with the regular game, getting resurrected flips the camera around wildly for no **bleep** reason. These are the details that makes me nervous for the next game. One play test, and I'd be like this feels awful, and it needs to be changed. And it's probably a simple fix too, a bad animation tied to something. At least not complicated for a studio like Dice. Yet, I see all sorts of oddities and bugs throughout the game, that if someone actually played their game, it would drive them nuts.

Glad you're enjoying it though. Everything doesn't have to be everyone. Battlefield is all about giving options for different play styles.
